Pats not tendering Jakob Johnson so he becomes a free agent.

I like Johnson though he's no James Develin.

Like this kid a lot. Plus getting ready to play in Germany you think RTK would want him just for the merchandise piece?

This seems to be the best place to put this. Big argument on the radio.

"Players win championships. Draft picks are worthless."

One guys was talking about using 8 draft picks to fill all of the holes in the Patriots' roster.

Other guys says that draft picks are a guess and a wish at the very best and trading draft picks for known players is the only to compete in the NFL today or by signing known free agents.

Agrument continues. The first guy says to bring in young talents and develop it and the team continually gets better. The second guy says that teams draft players and it takes two to three years before they settle in and play anywhere near the NFL level. There are always exceptions but for the most part, it takes time. The second guy says that just as the draft pcik from three years ago really starts to play, he's up for a new contract 75% of the players will test free agency and sign for the bucks somewhere else. He says to look at the league and the teams who've been in the Super Bowl and have won it the past few years. They've traded draft picks to solidify their teams with solid veteran types.

He made a valid point. "The Patriots would be in the toilet if they were in the AFCW." Raiders, Broncos and Chargers grabbed the best free agents and available players by trade and said screw draft picks. Take the guys you what they can do and use them to win. Let someone do the wishin' and hopin' that a college kid can come in and start and perform.

I can see the argument on both sides, but I'm starting to feel more like the guy that bays, make the deals and don't worry about the cost if you get a top player that you can sign. ie: Davante Adams or Chandler Jones.

Thoughts? Arguments??

This is a list of all of the free agent corners and who they signed with and who is left at the bottom of the list.
Some of them might really help the Patriots in 2022, others not so much. Again, it all boils down to cost.

Dolphins sign Armstead yesterday and today they trade #29 to the Chiefs for Tyreek Hill.

Patriots have lost four of the last five against the Dolphins. They don't have anyone who can cover Hill. The 'fins will finish in front of the Patriots this year and just might edge out the Bills.

I agree they could finish ahead of NE but they do not have the QB or Defense to beat out Buff IMO

Two thoughts come to mind

1) Are the Fins going to trade for another football too, that way they can give one to Waddle and one to Hill on every play?

2) Unless they needed two decoys, the fins need someone who can transfer the ball from the center to either of these guys.

I think we have to wait and see what this new HC is bringing. Ross is willing to spend and everyone is looking at the Bengals and what they did to get to the SB. Chiefs took a huge step backwards getting rid of Hill. Tua will benefit from having Hill's speed and moves.

It's going to be a very interesting year.

Jonathan Jones can cover Hill and he has done it before.

"Jones, who reportedly is recovering well from season-ending shoulder surgery, has played a starring role in the Patriots’ efforts to defend Hill over the years, and the longtime slot corner likely will lead that charge again this season, assuming good health."

"
Bill Belichick’s defensive game plan is usually simple: remove the other team’s top options and force them to win with their depth. For the Chiefs, their offense runs through Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

"Hill and Kelce combined for 4 catches on 8 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown. The Patriots had Jonathan Jones cover Hill"
Patriots 37, Chiefs 31

We lost 2 games to Miami last year, are we now going to lose 4?
We don't need to worry about Miami and their constant rebuild. We need to worry about how we play.

Their constant rebuild was better than the Patriots last year. Patriots are 5-6 in the past five years and three of those were with TB12. Pats are 1-3 since he left.

Patriots / Dolphins results the past five years:

One of those was a last second fumble and another was a freak college play.

If a one point win is a W then any loss is and L
I think the overwhelming majority of us understand that rational.
Sucks to lose by stupid shitty mistake almost as much as it sucks to lose by a blow out.
It does not suck...as much...to lose a close hard fought game.
