Free AGENT!!! He could be a team changer, maybe a team like Houston + a D12? He is probably opting out for a max contract though that the Rockets can not afford with D12 or someone else.

If these 3 were to get together (D12, CP3 and Iguodala) and take less money and make their own super team I think they would be immediate favorites in my mind.

More importantly though we would need to figure out a nickname for Andre that had at least 1 number in it.

what is your obsession with this whole Dwight Howard to Houston plus CP3 deal?

I don't see Houston being a very aggressive team in the Free Agency world.

One of our local columnists wrote it would be a good fit for him in Portland. But too bad Portland NEVER gets active in FA or trades. We seem to be content with just drafting young guys and sticking with them for 6 years, keep losing and using the excuse "we are young"

Iguodola is an overrated bum. Nobody is paying him 16 mil which is what he would've made with Denver had he not opted out.

I wouldnt say he is a bum but he is overrated because he isnt consistent. I would put him in the same category with a Joe Johnson, way overpaid for flashes of greatness...

Iguodala is a more expensive and older version of Kawhii Leonard. Excellent defensively, but mediocre on the offensive end.

If all 3 of those guys teamed up, they would be good but not a favorite unless they had a pure scorer and a shooter to go with them. Howard and Iguodala are not first options offensively, which means they would be relying on Paul an awful lot.

Howard and Paul are going to price themselves out of the market. Both egos are out of control and they now believe their own exaggerated worth.

Iggy isn't a game changer. He's a tremendous athlete. He's great on the fastbreak. He needs to work on his jumper. I can't believe he walked away from 16M. I don't think he's worth anything near that kind of money. The fact he believes he's going to get more tells me all I need to know about how messed up the NBA really is.

Thing is, he will get that or something close to it. Yet, the owners want to blame the players for the financial issues in the league.

Note to owners: if you want your franchise to make $, don't offer max deals to players like Iguodala and Joe Johnson. That is bad business.

@Oducks

I did not realize it is an obsession (probably is though :D) but I love players taking the responsibility to make things happen rather than wait to be hopefully maybe traded to the perfect situation. I would never rely on the competence of others (especially pro sports management) for that opportunity. Opportunities aren't found or given and they don't just happen. You have to make and take your opportunities, I enjoy seeing highly overpaid professionals with out college degrees understand that philosophy.

also at Oducks, I like seeing super teams even if I do not like the players them selves example: any lakers team in the last 20 years :D and D12

I kind of think pro sports is the land of business ineptitude. A Special Olympics or preschool of the business world. But they can thrive due to the overwhelming margin of error allowed. Like a bicycle with 2 sets of training wheels.

I am going to liken this to poker. In poker, generally, the more money (the higher the stakes) you play for the harder the competition gets. But when there is an abundance of fish (players hemorrhaging money) then the worst player can beat the rake (small percentage of every pot that acts as a fee so the casino makes money) in some of the biggest games if the have the money to sit at the table.

In this case, the NBA, sure they are playing their business game for billions of dollars, but there is so much consumption of their product they can be complete idiots and still beat the rake (in this case the GM salary, ball boys, refs etc are the rake). Also profit sharing acts as a security blanket provided by the better GMs to save those completely inept at running their business. The Laker types save the Bobcat types and this is beneficial for both parties because the Lakers need somebody they can play against to show case their talent and earn ticket sales, and the Bobcats need money because they are bungling morons at fielding a team that plays a competent level of basketball.
