Who are you putting on the Mound?????

For Myself I would put Randy Johnson out there. He had the nastiest Slider known to man and I saw him pitch a perfect game in person and he was incredible. Plus he was clutch in the Postseason.

Most dominant pitcher we'll see in our lifetime. 102 mph fastball followed by a filthy slider in the dirt. I'd give anything to stand up there and see what it's like to see a 6' 10" grown-ass man throw a baseball 2' from your head at 102 mph.

RJ's K/9 of 10.6 is the best in history. The fact that he kept it up for 22 seasons is crazy... His K/BB was 3.25 (37th all-time).

Pedro's K/9 was 10.0 (good for third all-time) (in 18 seasons)... His K/BB was 4.15 (also 3rd all-time).

These two both had six seasons with an ERA+ over 180 - but four of Pedro's were over 200 (something Randy never did) - and Pedro's 2000 adjusted ERA of 291 was insane and IMO, the greatest season by a SP in history.

So, for one game, I'd take Martinez.

But I can't blame anyone for taking the tall scary lefty...

As good as Maddux was in the regular season I always thought he was subpar in the postseason. Idk if
I could trust him.

Why do you say that?
3.3 era in postseason including a 2.1 in the world series, 2.1 is much better than his career ERA while 3.3 is right around there. Not to mention he was one of the best fielding pitchers and one of the best command pitchers of all time.

Lolwut? He had a 3.27 ERA in the postseason. His career ERA was 3.16. In a high scoring league.

Yea, and in the years of his 'prime' (1992-2002) he had a 2.80 ERA in the playoffs over a 176 inning span, and from 1992-1999 (150 inning span) his ERA was 2.39 in the playoffs.

But even more so he rocked a 2.1 in the workd series, was one of the best defensive pitchers in the game if not the best and had pinpoint control. There were many pitchers to choose from, but I think in the end I would take maddux.

Im talking about compared to his regular seasons he just wasn't as good in the postseason as he was in the regular season to me.

And a lot of that is probably due to him facing a sampling of better lineups in the postseason overall than in the regular season....that's not anything to really knock him for. Teams with bad lineups in most cases tend not to make the playoffs, so he's facing a crop of better hitters/lineups in October, which makes it harder to keep low numbers.

Just taking 1995 for example, the average NL team scored 4.63 runs/game, but the average reg season runs/game for the 3 teams the Braves played in the playoffs was 5.49...so the playoff competition for the Braves was almost a run better than the NL average.
