Yes. If Goodell delays the game at all he should be fired because that is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Its too dumb for a normal person to even fathom. And I'm 100% that he hasn't. Because he isn't a retard...

They're projecting 35* & sunny for next Friday fwiw. The notion that it would be postponed under any circumstances is pretty far fetched. They'll be ready for whatever mother nature has in store short of another hurricane. It's NYC for cryin' out loud. They routinely move massive numbers of people around daily in all sorts of whether. Another 100,000 or so is just another day there.

the championship games were mostly played in foul weather back in the day so what's the big deal??

The big deal is that the commish is a spineless asshole who is more concerned with trying to please as many people as he can instead of maintaining the sanctity of the game.

Vince Lombardi's gonna do a double barrel roll in his grave if the Superb Owl is postponed.

Yeah, but there's gonna be rich people there though. They deserve the special treatment of a comfortable game day where it's 62 out with a slight breeze.

They're preparing to play it in the snow. They just have contingencies in place for extreme circumstances.

And they do this for literally EVERY single game in the NFL.

the only reason for a football game to be delayed is lightning. Doubt there is gonna be any warm weather blowing through to create any lightning, so the superbowl is safe from delay!

Boy this is growing old. It's a football game and it should be played outside, and not all games are played in perfect weather conditions nor should they be. What's next cancelling the NFCCG in Green Bay cause it may snow, or maybe Green Bay should have to move the game to a warm sunny place. People complaining about this have no led to stand on as far as I am concerned.

and, they have to delay the game...Roger Goodell should be FIRED on the spot!

What on God's green earth makes you believe this is Roger's idea? Believe me, if the owners didn't want this, this wouldn't be happening.

Hopefully this is a lesson learned. The SB should never be played outdoors in the north.

i've never liked the idea of having a SB in a cold weather city at all (indoors OR outdoors). If/When I ever attend one, I will only go to a warm climate game because I will be there all week and will be wanting to do all of the week-long activities outdoors and don't want to be freezing my ballz off.

I agree, but mainly out of stubborn assholedness. The NFL used to tell Dallas ever damn year that the SB couldn't be played here because we didn't have a dome or 80 degree year round weather.

Then as soon as we get a dome to get the SB, they do a 180 and "oh, well we can actually hold it anywhere".

Fuck the NFL and more importantly fuck the entire Mara clan and everyone associated with them.

yep, it's hard to justify to places like denver, kansas city, cincinnati, cleveland, philadelphia, pittsburgh, tennessee, carolina, and washington d.c. that have similar (or better) weather in february why new york got one and they have always been told they can't have one because of the weather.

:wtf2:

So they changed their mind. Hopefully this is the first of many outdoor superbowls and then those cities you listed will have a shot (hopefully so will Seattle, although our stadium is quite small).

football can and will be played in the snow

yes but, they've already said if there is a significant storm that emergency vehicles, plows etc are needed to serve the city, rather than the game, that the game could be Monday, or I think I heard something saying if the forecast was bad enough, they would play Friday or Saturday

Goodell should be fired regardless

I'm sure the NFL has their own plows on hand, specifically for the football game.

No way the game gets moved.

Super Bowl XLVIII is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2, but the NFL put contingency plans in place to play the game any time between Friday and Monday next weekend.

A storm of massive proportions would have to be in the forecast for the league to make those contingencies a reality.

What did they expect? They scheduled the game to be played in a dump.

I get all that. EVERY GAME has a similar contingency plan. Every big company. Every big event. Everything that has any significant money involved has a contingency plan. This shouldn't be news.

The NFL said that the storm that just happened wouldn't have been enough to cancel the game.

If this SB was being played in Detroit at their dome and a storm of massive proportions was forecast the same contingency plan would be in place.

The game will be played .The fans hopefully won't have to put up with this cold weather we have up here currently. It was a dumb idea to have a SB here...not for the game but for all of the events that happen before. I'm sure the NFL will pay top dollar to local guys to clear the snow if any, but the NFL won't have their own plows on hand....they don't own any.
