The Rams hadn't traded up in the 1st last year for Austin.

They could've drafted Kyle Long at #16, still traded down and got Ogletree. Drafted Lacy in the 2nd. Or, drafted Reid at #16, Ogletree and Warford in the 2nd.

Had they done that, they could take Watkins without hesitation.

I know- hindsight is always 20/20. But, man that would be a heck of a roster. Losing that 2nd round pick to take Austin really, really hurt last year.

Damn Angelakerams. If the Rams would have done that, we would have one helluva of an O-line. Long and Warford who had great rookies seasons I wanted so badly I was screamin' for both all last year before the draft. That is why I am done screamin'. That scenario you presented would be so way better for this year than the train-wreck I fear may happen THIS year.

Well hopefully Austin goes off this year and it won't seem to bad.

He would have to be way better than Watkins to make it feel better, because had they not taken Austin, Watkins would be a Ram come Thursday.

Plus had their 2nd round pick last year.

its great to imagine but i doubt it would have worked out totally that way, somebody else's board possibly could have shifted.

Last year at this time everyone was sayin that Sam didn't have any weapons or o-line. So what did we do? We brought in Jared Cook and Jake Long and drafted Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey. So who are we talking about at draft time now??

Drafting a wr/ol to help Sam out.........

That is why the scenario AngeLakeRams presented was doable and possible and that is why we are now discussing Wadkins this year. We could have easily taken Chris' brother last year and Warford (both who are outright beasts) and we'd have one helluva O-line and in position to take one helluva WR this year.

Can't go back now.:L Can only go foward. Drafting another receiver to help a QB that is questionable is stupid, I don't care how good Watkins or Evans might be. Unless we run the ball and make it more about the opposition stopping the run and not us at 3rd and 6, the Rams will lose. I don't know if Robinson, Mathews or Lewan is best for us but does anyone think Bradford will give us wins each week with his arm?:noidea: Fix the damm line before we start that 5 year streak again.

Fixing the line doesn't have to happen in the first round.

Ok, I guess the Seahawks, 49ers and Cardinals will change your minds. Gook luck on 4th place again.

So only 1st round picks on OL are worthy? That's a bit closed-minded.

Besides, Barksdale graded out pretty well last year. LT is only needed right away if Long can't return by week 1. LG is a need (if Jones isn't put there), but that seems ideally filled in round 2 or 3 (unless you're going to draft an OT to play OG temporarily). Jackson, Yankey, Richardson, etc all should be available day 2.

If we draft Mathews/Robinson, they would start out at RT or fill in at LT until Long is healthy. Barksdle would become a back up, which we desparately need. Imagine our run game with Saffold and Robinson lined up next to each other on the right side.

I think they would put Robinson at LG and Saffold at RG leave Barksdale at RT. That would be a solid OL. Draft a Guard for depth.

your right...they would probably start him out at gd but as he progresses he would probably move to wherever he is most valuable LT or RT

Common sense, impossible! My point exactly, fix the line with studs. Nobody knows who works out, the draft in a nut shell is a crap shoot, even Watkins. My only point is, in this division we have the fucking Super bowl Champions, the 49ers probably would have been had they not lost it to Seattle and a decent Cardinals team. That is too much to go up against with flair and a QB off his back foot. Fix the line, put them wherever you want but run the damm ball and take time off the clock and score and we will make the playoffs. The Rams proved two years ago we can beat all of them, so do it the right way and kick their ass.
