Why should a team get a free time out because there’s two minutes left in a half?
Why does a receiver need two feet in bounds to make a catch, but only one knee or elbow in bounds?
Why is defensive holding a five yard penalty and an automatic first down, but offensive holding is a ten yard penalty and replay the down?
Why does a defensive player get penalized for a face-mask penalty, but a running back can grab a face-mask and rip a defender’s helmet off with no penalty?
1. It's the rule? It is unnecessary really.
2. An elbow or knee means they're already on the ground, makes no sense to make it all about the feet at that point.
3. Defensive holding is the prevention of a pass play that is open-ended (could be a drop, could be a TD), so it's short yardage but a first down. Offensive holding is the prevention of a sack at best in most cases (can't project a TO), so 10 yards is a valid yardage. Live-action penalties that aren't automatic first downs always result in replay the down, other than I think grounding? The grounding penalty might be more questionable IMO.
4. The days of RBs getting away with grasping the facemask on stiff arms are SUPPOSED to be over. Still gets missed at times (just like everything).
