Thompson gives 100% every night though!
That's gotta count for something, right?!?

Whiteside might win defensive player of the year and / or 6th man.
Right?
From what I've read, he's ineligible for 6th man of the year given that he started a certain percentage of games. I don't know what the DPOY rankings look like, but I can't think of anyone else that's better.
For the love of god, the Heat's defensive efficiency spike's when he's in the game and he's close to averaging 12 rebounds and 4 blocks per game.
I could see them going with Leonard again. If it goes to a PF/C it must be Hassan

I'd say if they go with a "big" it would have to be Draymond. Hassan should def be 1st team All-D though.
I disagree
Fair enough. I think it's close, just depends on what you value more, versatility or excelling at one or two things. No right or wrong imo.
It's Defensive Player of the Year. Versatility doesn't matter as much. It doesn't matter how many assists, points or offensive rebounds Draymond gets, it's strictly about defense. As good as Draymond is, I think that the only defensive advantage he has over Whiteside is that he can cover more positions, and has an easier time defending out to the 3 point line. As far as pure impact on a game from a defensive standpoint, I think Whiteside has more impact than Draymond.
Again, we can disagree on this. But Draymond provides way more "impact" than Hassan. If you want to go by a pure statistical model, Hassan definitely has the upper hand. But you said it doesn't matter how many stats Draymond produces, so it should pertain vice versa to Whiteside.
Draymond has the lowest FGA for post ups. He has the highest rated efficiency of any center, when he plays at center. He guards out on the perimeter and switches on to point guards. He literally guards 1-5, there's not much more of an impact you can have as a defender.
Blocks and Steals are NEVER a good indicator of defense. Kawhi is the best example of that. He's universally considered the best defender in the NBA and his stat's don't show it.
So statistically, Hassan is better. But he's still not better.
The stats I said don't matter are offensive stats because they don't matter when we are talking about defensive player of the year. It's a defensive award. Points scored, offensive rebounds, assists, etc. don't matter.
Teams aren't changing their offensive game plans much, if at all, for Draymond Green, they are for Whiteside. There's more to blocked shots and rebounds that make Whiteside better. There is also the number altered shots and the fact that teams avoid the paint more when he's on the court. Miami's defensive efficiency goes up significantly when he's on the floor.
no GM in their right mind would ever deal Green for Whiteside- thats all you really need to know....ESPECIALLY considering their contract situations, past histories, work ethics, team leadership etc....if you look at the big picture- Green is a million times more valuable than Blancote.Again, we can disagree on this. Well for total package yes. That's obvious.
But this was in terms of pure defensive terms. Who's more valuable/who's the better defender.
hmmm im gonna pick that guy that starts on the historically great (is great too light a word) team--- not the guy off the bench on the middling eastern conference wanna-be's....just my opinion....lol.....Well for total package yes. That's obvious.

Green hasnt embarassed his team and got suspended? how many games has he missed because of injury?
Man, Whiteside is definitely getting to you.

Miami have done a pretty good rebuilding job since lebron left. How did cleveland do when lebron left the first time? Plus, true Heat fans like @TurnUpTheHeat @Heatles84 and @bksballer89 never jumped ship when he left - unlike the majority of the cavs fan base did, and will do again when he leaves for a second time!
And how has this become a Green v Whiteside discussion. You're the one who continually refuses to answer the original topic - man up for once in your life wiggy!
