No more-so then any other player on the roster

#keeptrying
Per you they could have made the deal had he opted out (or not picked up his option). We are not talking about other players.

SO this is all about you having another hypothetical?

And, as ridiculous as the question is, I'm not even sure of the answer because I remember reading/hearing that even if he did opt out we wouldn't have any cap space when him possibly opting out was being discussed.

Here is a post from April 11 made by @Heatles84

I really didn’t pay attention to Heat salary this summer because I figured one more year as is.
However, I heard on radio that Whiteside opting out doesn’t help Heat with cap this summer anyway.

They were suggesting he doesn’t opt out, then the Heat trade his expiring contract to a team that needs a C.
That would probably be the best for all involved. I know whatever happens with Whiteside, we're still locked into this roster as is for 1 more year. On another note, did you see this
(including @bksballer89 )?

If you care to do the research, go ahead, but its ridiculous because he didn't opt out.

So, at that point, his talent created the opportunity to turn him into 2 players PLUS salary relief from Portland.
That allowed the Heat to keep 3 better players then the one they dumped to the Clippers to create the Butler space.

I stopped reading about your comment about me making it a hypothetical. It's not about being a hypothetical. It's about whether he was an asset or not to get Butler. YOU said the deal still gets done if HW does not pick up his option. This implies he was a deterrent to getting Butler, not an asset in the way it actually went down. Not hypothetically went down.

Own it.

After thinking( try it), I recalled it being said that him opting out wouldn't matter.
Then found the post to support it.

Him opting out wouldn't matter? If he opts out they need to move his contract to get Butler?

Not sure.
No cap expert.
But I recalled conversation that it didnt, and posted it.

Maybe cap expert @WiggyRuss recalls?

Posts like Heat gave Portland assets to take Whiteside, are maybe a reason you should realize you often talk out of your ass.

You aren't sure? If Whiteside does not pick up his option you think the Heat might still have to move him, even though they cannot move him as he is not theirs to move?

That has to be Post of the Year material.

I get Heat fans are among those who base comments on poster and not post, but for their sake I hope none try and help you here.

Thought Miami gave up a first to make this deal work. Here's the thing...if they didn't then my mistake. I was wrong.

You, OTOH, instead of saying what is painfully obvious (that HW was not an asset NEEDED to obtain Butler) has now come out and said you don't know if they'd have had to move him even if they didn't have his rights to move.

Priceless.

How long before instead of calling you out for what might be an all-time foolish comment here will someone come to your rescue and call me the bad guy for pointing it out.....ignoring you have called me out for a mistake I might have made, but owned up to.

Not what I said.

Exact reasoning Cavs fans say signing Tristan, JR didnt matter.

Smart of you to ask others for help.
You need it.
