With 15 games scheduled for that day, it's not 'unique' anymore.
It is a work day. Many who take it off won't get paid for the day.
It doesn't appear that it will be Nationally Televised.
Any recruiting benefit from exposure has been diluted.

The Time and Channel for Nebraska's Friday after Thanksgiving game was always scheduled before the season began. (2:30 pm Central on National ABC). There is not even a Time or Network assigned for this game yet. It's "TBD" :L

Nebraska/Oklahoma was must see.
Nebraska/Colorado was "unique" in that there were only 3 or 4 games that day. (Texas/Texas A&M being one)

Nebraska/Iowa is a diluted  for CFB fans.

I don't.

I'm a semi-retired independent subcontractor. I make my own schedule.

Just making the point that some people aren't even paid for taking Thanksgiving off. To take the Friday following off would be 2 days without pay for them on the week.
There is no law that employers must pay people for the Thanksgiving holiday, let alone the Friday after.

IMO Friday football the day after Thanksgiving has been diluted to where it's no longer beneficial to play that day.

my fear is this --
all of football may get political and diluted as of the rest of the nation --do to PC ness and the libtards that hate the American way

I shall wait ---on bended knees

I can see your point
Idk if it was ever beneficial beyond a marque matchup with a top ranked OU, and those days were a very long time ago as they were shitting the bed for most of the 90's until they got the bob in there
It's only nostalgia for me really, ironically iowa could reemerge as a meaningful rivalry, locally, and give the game some sorely needed enthusiasm

With Oklahoma it was about watching two blue-bloods duke it out for the Big 8 Title and a trip to Miami.
With Colorado it was more about recruiting exposure.

With Iowa it's about :noidea:

Hadn't really thought about it but my first instinct is I get the Friday off after and I like having Nebraska play that day. If there's another day that would be better I'm all ears, if not why change it? A lot of people don't get Saturday off either.

colorado's only claim to fame was name dropping Nebraska saying we're their rival, like they were trying to step into the vacancy that left with OU
Iowa isn't trying to force a rivalry like the big10 is with other teams and grocery store trophy games, it'll never replace OU but it could turn into something meaningful in other ways vs a trip to the Orange

Iowa had to be drug into playing the game on Friday. They didn't want to.

With the dilution of games that day, I can see them not agreeing in the future.

They play next Saturday, so it's going to be a short week for them to get ready for Friday.

That's right, they only agreed on it for a few years iirc, it may very well be switched to Sat, idk who sets the bye weeks but they're getting the short end this year

I can see Red_Alert's point, but I still like it.

I get together with family and we scream at the TV. We have even been to a few of the Thanksgiving games in Lincoln; be it against Oklahoma, Colorado, or Iowa.

The way this one will have meaning is if Nebraska beats Iowa and ruins their undefeated season(assuming Iowa can get past the juggernaut of Purdue). Nothing would give me greater pleasure that listening to Hawkeye fans whine for an entire year.

I believe the series is Nebraska 3 - Iowa 1 since Nebraska joined the B1G.
