That stuff has been a cycle since he's been here. On again off again, inconsistent defense that as soon as you think it's finally fixed, disaster strikes. I assume it's been back to the basics again this week and I think the defense will play well again tomorrow, maybe even the next week. But Bo only knows what he knows (what he learned 15 yrs ago) and he'll start installing the more difficult stuff again until it breaks down.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

In the off-season, Bo should have sent himself, Papuchis, and a couple other assistants to a school that's had defensive success recently and learned what they were doing a la Charlie McBride. Stanford or Alabama would have been good. But no, he pissed away another year damned determined that his "black and white" is the only answer.

Whether or not he's afforded another opportunity by SE) to swallow his pride and learn a new "process" remains to be seen. I have my doubts that he's capable of seeing himself and his methodolgy being wrong. If I was the AD in the post season interview, I wouldn't suggest anything regarding it. I'd just listen to Bo and his answers regarding how he intends to fix things. If those answers didn't include scraping the current scheme, the current methodology, and learning/installing a completely new one, I'd start looking for a replacement, get him onboard, and let Bo go.

Maybe if enough of us sends a similar message like this to SE, he'll heed this advice, unless he already has come up with something like this himself.

Sadly Bo is very dedicated, and I don't see him cleaning house as he sees his staff as "family". He is too concerned about mentoring and advancing the careers of his peers, and it could very well be his downfall. Nebraska should not be a stepping stone for coaches looking to learn how to coach, it should be a destination for great coaches to come and prove how good they are.
