but didn't think his stock moved up this far! He started off as a late round pick at best & now I read this.

Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage has declined an invitation to attend the NFL Draft.

Savage has generated significant buzz in recent weeks, so the fact he received an invitation confirms just how high his stock is in NFL circles. He's scheduled to visit with as many as 25 teams before the draft. SI's Peter King considers Savage a potential fit for the Texans at No. 33 overall.

If he's there in the 3rd we need to consider pulling the trigger. He has NFL size with an NFL arm. Plus he come from a pro style system.

if what I read has any merit, doesn't sound like he will be getting anywhere near the 3rd round.
Has the NFL ever invited someone to the draft that made it to the 3rd round? (honestly never thought about this question til now)

It all depends on how many QB's go in the 1st. Depending ob what day it is we will have 6 1st rd qb's or 2 of them. If he goes before us so be it. I've seen McCarron mocked in the 1st. Doubt it happens.

I LOVE that he DECLINED to go.

Roger GoToHellNFL always invites someone for the cameras to sit on .... to bring drama and make some kid feel like shit in hopes it turns into an inspiring story ......

blah fuck that.

If I were in his shoes I would have declined to. Then put my pops on a john boat and fished the whole day. Cell phone on my side. Plenty of beer and just let nature play it's course.

Totally agree. No way you go and watch your torment play out on National TV if you are him

I'd go. They put you up at a 5 star, you get fed like a Prince, and who gives a squirt if you don't get picked for a while, if the kid can read, he know's he's probably going somewhere between the 3rd and 6th anyway....

That is exactly why you decline. Think about it, everyone thinks your a mid round pick, it would make zero sense to go to NY and look like an idiot.

I just don't get why they invite him in the first place. If anyone is going to draw interest in falling, it will be Manziel or Bridgewater. The average fan doesn't even know who the heck Savage is anyway lol

It makes no sense to me either. By Savages declination I guess it made no sense to him.

TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports the Patriots are "incredibly high" on Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage.
