I think they'd probably be better off - if they feel they can manage it in the short term - to give it two more years to get the high salary years out of the way and substantially reduce the buyout hit.Assuming Lombardi doesn't plant C4 in Brown's car the next time he parks it at the airport like Dash says, it makes way more sense for a team in the Kings' position to buy him out than it does to keep him on as he loses what little remains of his professional hockey pedigree. There are a couple of rough years where his cap hit will outweigh the buyout savings but overall the impact pales in comparison to the impact carrying his full hit until 2022 will do when he's being outscored by David Clarkson. LA needs to rid themselves of this contract to have any chance of competing for the Cup again.
Or they could trade him to Arizona while he awaits his trial.
