kadri and schenn huh?

i'll be happy when i dont have to hear about how good kadri is going to be anymore.. i feel like he's been a 'superstar in the making' and an 'untouchable prospect' for close to 5 years

Yeah...I don't think I'd trade Staal for them. We already have Eric Tangradi.

Gillis would win another GM of the year award if he pulled off that heist, Kenny...

Well, both do have abysmal contracts involved, hahaha

It makes a bit of sense actually as Gonchar comes off the books after this year. That fits well with getting Sid inked to an extension. Obviously Gonch has had previous success in Pitt as well.

My only question would be Michalek's health. Certainly couldn't play the "they're brothers" drinking game anymore...not without getting alcohol poisoning.

He was healthy this year and potted 35 goals. Still young at 27 too. He might be an awesome fit with either Sid or Geno.

I'm not sure where Staal would fit with Ottawa. Spezza is the number 1 C and Turris is being groomed for the #2 spot. Staal is better than Turris right now but Turris doesn't play the wing and isn't really suitable to play as, or with, grinder(s).

I'd love to have Staal on the Sens for the right price though.

James Duthie ✔ @tsnjamesduthie
As @Real_ESPNLeBrun just reported on Insider Trading, Lucic very open to signing in EDM if things don't work out in LA, and deal is right.

Give him 15 million a year for 7 years and he will sign anywhere;)

Hey Dash, any rumours of Calgary's interest in Fleury? It's all the talk on the Penguins grape vine.

Yeah, it's been mentioned quite a bit actually. Some fans are worried about his recent playoff performances, but my thoughts are this is a guy who has put up some darn good regular season numbers and would be a significant upgrade in goal for the Flames.

Put Fleury in front of that defence and add a scorer and the Flames are contenders. But I think they're far more interested in one of Tampa's tandem.

Said it before too that I wouldn't mind MAF on the Leafs for a few years while they develop a few goalie prospects (of course they need to acquire said prospects first). Doubt TB trades a goalie to a division rival.

Assuming LA is buying out Dustin Brown, signing Lucic would preclude them from what I think Lombardi really thinks is what will get the team back into contention - signing Steven Stamkos.

If Lombardi is half as smart as he makes himself out to be, he's negotiating with Lucic simply out of respect and to give his agent a basis from which to start negotiations with other teams.

I'm not sure they'll do that. He may be ridiculously overpaid, but I'm not sure they're going to be willing to pony up nearly $22M for the buyout and blow that kinda cap space for so long.

The savings in the first 2 years is OK, but after that it drops off quite a bit.

Assuming Lombardi doesn't plant C4 in Brown's car the next time he parks it at the airport like Dash says, it makes way more sense for a team in the Kings' position to buy him out than it does to keep him on as he loses what little remains of his professional hockey pedigree. As per GF:

Untitled.png

There are a couple of rough years where his cap hit will outweigh the buyout savings but overall the impact pales in comparison to the impact carrying his full hit until 2022 will do when he's being outscored by David Clarkson. LA needs to rid themselves of this contract to have any chance of competing for the Cup again.

Couldn't you just keep Brown for one more year and then let the Vegas team select him in the expansion draft?
