Zeitler and Ragnow are huge losses. I liked Ratledge coming out of Georgia and I hear good things about Mahogany, but those are some big shoes to fill. I am not so sure the lions are going to be so automatic running the football this year. If Hutch doesn’t come back 100%, I could see a disaster year for the lions given how tough their division and schedule are.

Mahogany's play at the end of the season was a big part of letting Zeitler walk. He was pretty damn good, but easier to do when you are between Sewell and Ragnow.

I am actually most worried about the one returning guy, Glasgow was slipping by end of the year. He is a replacement level at best at this point.

That was after the 2023 season, not last year.
I am aware, I said it multiple times in my post. I am hopeful he continues, but the fact remains he has 1 year in his entire career that he was not terrible. In that year he had the second best line in football and an elite OC.

I hope last year is his new normal, but you can't pretend that there is not a good chance last year was an outlier. He has 8 years as a liability under pressure, and 1 as a threat.

Only way the year is a disaster for the Lions is if the injury bug bites hard again IMO. They have way too much talent to be a subpar team even with the very hard (at least on paper now) schedule.

Stop it! He has not been “terrible” his entire career except last year. The guy has made it to two NFC championship games on two different teams, won 15 games in a season and a Super Bowl in 3 different seasons.

I don’t care how good your teams are, you don’t do any of that with a “terrible” QB.

It’s amazing how he was the QB when two terrible teams suddenly became high achieving playoff teams, yet he gets zero credit for it. It’s like they achieved it in spite of him.

When your entire point revolves around purposefully ignoring half of my point you have lost the argument. I never once said he was terrible, I said he has historically been terrible with pressure. I also said he was elite without it. That is not an opinion, it is backed up by stats.

I know you got my point, because you acknowledged he improved on it last year. Kind of bizarre to try and ignore something you already admitted less than an hour ago to try and make a point

You said “the fact remains he has 1 year in his entire career that he was not terrible.”

That’s FAR from a fact.

I did say that.....in a reply to you talking about his improvement against pressure in 2024. As I was clearly talking about the pressure aspect it is absolutely a fact.

According to statmuse, Goff ranked in the top 10 of passing rating under pressure in each of the past 3 seasons. Here he is ranked #9 in 2023.

In 2022 he had even better numbers at 99.3.

Obviously he was fantastic last season with a 111.8.

He hasn’t been terrible for all but one season. He really has been a great QB in Detroit, and I don’t believe it was all because of a coach or his team. He played a BIG role in Detroits transformation the past 3 seasons to being a top 5 NFL team during that timeframe.
