The commentators said he had blocked 9 shots. If he didn't don't blame me. I sure didn't sit there and count them.

Wow, that's a little surprising. I think most folks are under the impression that the Rockets had the cap space!! I know I was!!

yeah.....as far as know i think the mavs and hawks can offer a max????

i think the mavs can get both if they amnesty marion????

they would have to take a little less upfront and get ballooned on the back end when dirk takes his pay cut

next year 86 mil on books.....2014/2015 78mil (way over projected cap).....2015/2016 65 mil(also over projected cap)

if i remember correctly ....you cant sign or trade players if you are over the cap????

Yeah, I've been saying all along that the Lakers will be fine beginning next summer!!

Assuming Dwight re-signs with the Lakers, I think that they will keep pretty much the same team intact for next year and hopefully stay healthy and see what they can do. Then they will re-build around Dwight next summer.

If he doesn't, then they will still go with basically the same team, probably with Gasol at center. Then completely re-build next summer.

yep, i think the Lakers are in decent shape after this season IF short Buss doesn't somehow screw this up. lol, what're the chances Jeannie could take over the whole ball o' wax...?

I'd say it depends on how Laker fans react to how Short Buss handles things this off-season!!

If he does okay, no problem!!

If not: :lm:

Glad I made it here and happy to see all the friendly faces!

I would love a sign and trade w Howard. Keep Gasol and restructure Kobe's deal.

Yea Dubbie: This place is way cool. HammerDown and others really work hard to keep this place free of trolls to enhance the sportstalk experience waaaayyyy better than any other site in my opionion!!

It looks more and more that Howard is gone may be to GS and Monta Ellis may be in the mix and/or draft picks. More will occur as we get closer to the draft.

Also, Kobe (and others) are beginning to recognize that the Achilles rupture is becoming more limiting than expected as I predicted back over in slimeland SeeBS.It may be that Kobe may not comeback as early as everyone wanted to believe as Chauncey Billups is now realizing. That injury is so tough to come back from even for the best of us.

I know many Lakers fans want Kobe to return just because it is Kobe but the reality is that this may indeed be the end of Kobe's career as a player and may be the beginning as a coach.

Retro, unfortunately I have to agree with you. Kobe will not be back until after the All Star break and he will return as a shell of himself. If he comes back, he won't be the same or close until the following year. Therefore, I'm afraid he should be amnestied. I really hate to say that. I absolutely LOVE the Black Mamba. I don't think they make 'em like him anymore. He is so driven and determined to win, it's just a shame seeing this happen to him...

Personally, I would rather see Klay Thompson come over in the Dwight trade. I wonder what it would take to pry away Rajon Rondo from Boston?

I hear you dubbie. It has been a long ride with the mamba but your timeline is more reality relative and I think Kobe may suggest amnesty to go to Italy and rehab for a whole year. I think that scenario will become the operative the closer we get to the fall months and it sinks in that he will not return in October as he wants or believed.

Good to see you Edubb, this site is cool as retro says. I am probably in the least liked position. Let Howard go, trade Gasol for picks, amnesty Kobe and play with what we have next season. I don't like the idea of a long season but after next year if Shorty can get it right the Lakers can rebuild pretty quickly. Probably a get to know each other season as a #5 seed or so and a playoffs series win and then watch out, the banners will rise again.

Yea Blue, for the long-term health and winnability of the team, that is just the scenario the Lakers need. I think Mitch is beginning to warm up to it and as we get closer to the draft we will see what sort of moves he makes.

There is a speculative article on Foxsports and it has the Lakers interested in a lot of FAs that are available and potential draft picks in sign and trade scenarios. The list is predicated on (suggestions by the author) the notion that Howard signs and is traded to GS and Paul gets traded to any takers. CP3 is on the list, Monta Ellis, Joe Smith, and the point guard from the Bucks.

Whether anything takes place remains to be seen but since many folks around the Lakers are preparing for Howard to go, Howard's exit may be the proverbial move that opens the flood gates. We shall see though.

I've been searching the web for any updates on Kobe's recovery. I can't seem to locate anything current. Does anyone have a link or website that is current? I wonder how his recovery is coming along???
