I've gone back and forth with this for years and I go with elite pass rush, its a QB league and you must hit the QB often, QB pressures is becoming an important stat. Pass rushing will win titles, I believe pass rushers are like good solid pitching, you need 8 aces in your pass rush rotation, if Im the Bengals with 1 of the first 3 picks every year I'd take a pass rusher and a OL...every year. Pass rushers you can evaluate better than finding an elite QB.

Absolutely....This has become a pass happy league so the key to any teams success will be the front 7, shut down corners will become absolute, teams will need to build around a Mario Williams, Suh & Ngata types..

I think this team has shown dline depth is important....they've been able to rotate 8 players without any significant dropoff in performance, and this means they have fresh players late in the game with the game on the line......

You need a pass rush and corners are also vital in todays pass friendly NFL.

Always build teams from the lines and work out.

DL - LB - CB - S

If you can put pressure on a QB and a running game with only a 4 man rush, or occasional 5 man rush...then the rest of the defense is going to find their job that much easier to do.

Same goes for offense. If you build a superior OL...you can make an average QB and RB look a lot better than they really are by buying the QB lots of time for WR's to get open, and holes big enough to drive trucks through for the RB.

This. Inside out.

Pass rush is most important and then being able to stuff the run with the front 7 a close second.

Agreed.... Look at Baltimore and Pittsburgh. They are consistently the best defensive units in the league and they are never known for their corner play (though they do both have all-pro safeties). The Eagles, meanwhile, might have the best trio of corners ever, yet they can't play D at all.

2009 everyone raved about our corners. Top 3 trio in the league.

2010 they were an after-thought. No longer amongst the best despite adding Pacman as the nickel.

Of course in 2010 they had to face real competition. And without a competent pass rush, they were burned often.

hard to say, you need strength at all postions, but, if you have shut down dbs and lack a pass rush, your still going to allow receivers to get open, it's very hard to chase a receiver all over the field like that when it becomes similar to a basketball pass.

hard to go wrong with an elite D-line. On that note, looking forward to seeing what Moch can do from OLB rushing the QB..

According to Kiper on the radio yesterday, next years draft will be loaded with inside & outside line backers.
