The last time playoffs were the discussed, the Big 10 and Pac-10 commissioners were against it because they might lose their precious Rose Bowl.

Would the south be ok potential January visits to South Bend, Madison, and Colombus?

For a 4 team playoff, you might be able to get away with using bowl sites, but for anything larger, homefield advantage is the only option.

If there was ever a CFB playoff it would have to be like the NFL, only the championship game would be at a "neutral" site, the playoffs would have to be at the best-record schools otherwise there is just too much travel for the fans. This is not basketball where 15,000 is a sell out.
