Scout: Sidney Jones could slide as many as two rounds in draft

Top 20 talent dealing with a torn Achilles that pretty much guarantees that he is out for the 2017 season. Possibly nagging in dealing with it longer.

I'm thinking he'll go mid to late rd3. Thats about where I see it worth taking the risk and it has to be to a team that is mostly set in the secondary.

Its possible. I thought he had an outside chance of going top 10 before the injury.

Late round and not early round is generally what I'm thinking just because he is going to go to a team that isnt needing secondary help right away. Its just a really, really bad draft for a CB to get injured.

It is. My guess is some playoff team though will view him as a huge value pick. Or heck I could see the Browns because they have so many picks now taking a chance on getting a 1st round talent in the 2nd or early 3rd. They probably need to store a couple of picks away anyway so makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully this isn't another Ekpre-olomu story. That was tragic.

What about a team loaded with draft picks like the Browns?
Kinda feel sorry for a guy who has a devastating injury that costs him a lot of money AND the potential to be drafted by the Browns.

Indeed that was sad. But this one seems worse given the injury occurred during his pro day vs. when Ifo got hurt towards the end of his senior year prior to the Rose Bowl.

True, but Ifo's was a lot more complex of an injury if I'm not mistaken. I would be shocked if this effectively ended Sidney's career like Ifo's appears to have done.

Ifo had a torn ACL & dislocated knee, vs Jones' torn Achilles. Aside from the dislocation, pretty sure the achilles is tougher to come back from. Might have to call in our resident hoop PT @SteelersPride on this.

Ifo's problem was timing really. He wasn't quite ready to come back for the '15 season, and the Browns ran out of patience (which is silly given they took the 7th Rd flier in the first place). He was waived by the following summer and picked up by the Dolphins. But during offseason camp last year he tore the ACL again when his cleat got caught in the artificial turf. Rough luck.

I doubt he gets drafted corner backs and achilles injuries don't mix. The only corner i can find that even got another chance after his achilles injury is Leon Hall and he wasn't even close to what he was prior to his injury. Maybe a team will take a shot at him in the 7th.

Ifo had insurance on himself...he still got paid millions. That's not too tragic.

If I'm the Jets I absolutely pull the trigger. You have a comp pick in the 3rd as insurance, you're tanking this season anyway. Go into 2018 with what's basically a first round guy, tons of cap space and a QB heavy draft.

A team at the end of the second round will draft him before any bottom feeder can get him in the third.

Rich get richer.

Browns have 33 and 52, both are too early imo for them.

65...maybe.

With this CB class being so deep I think mid to late 3rd rd.

They are the one team that has so much draft capital that they can risk a pick on a guy like Jones earlier than other teams because they still have plenty of high quality picks to fill in holes. They would be my top choice of teams that will take him.

Just glancing at the bottom of the 2nd...maybe SEA. I think there might be 15 CBs taken before him so late 2nd could happen, but there will still be some strong prospects on the board at that time...the value imo starts in the 3rd rd for him.
