don't forget they brought in demarco Murray over him. And they paid up the epic failure of dion Lewis. Until late last year he wAsnt even getting the work, and wasn't performing.

They finally benched Mariota. Tannehill at least provides some threat of a passing game to keep the defense honest.

wasnt his blocking and pass catching a question at alabama? he has 57 catches in his career, career high 18 last year.

he was a one trick pony at alabama, and teams was complete 3 down backs.

Yep and until this year he STILL had a lot of question marks about consistency. He ended up with 1,000 yards last year bc of two games where he had a total of 400 rushing yards. In his 4th year he has finally been given a full opportunity and showing us he can do it for at least a half of season. Even this yer up until week 9, he had one 100 yard game. I can see why he lasted till the 2nd round. Maybe this is a new Derrick Henry for years to come and he is coming into his shell. Still not much of a receiving weapon, not sure about his blocking ability at this point in his career tbh

Really you could stretch that out to week 10 THIS year. Up until Week 10 of this season, Henry had 5 100 yard games in his career (over 30 career starts and 50+ games). He's had 7 in the final 8 weeks (end of season and playoffs). Titans have won all those games except one as well. I'm sure the team around him has at least some to do with it as well.

This if oft repeated, but a flat out myth.

Henry was not the starter until his 3rd year at Bama, and even then people look at a couple of games (AU and UF) when he had 40+ carries and assume it was the norm. It wasn’t. Hell, we felt like he was highly UNDERutilized in college.

Ditto for the Titans. He only became the featured back last year. And while he certainly is capable of bruising, he manages to avoid the brunt of a lot of shots because he uses his speed and stiff-arm.

BTW, for those talking about his lack of receptions at Bama, that was the Kiffin offense. He rarely threw to backs. The exception was using Kenyan Drake lined up
wide.

Because running backs don't matter. Look how high Barkley went. Now look how many wins the Giants have had in his first two seasons.

A RB isn't valuable without a whole team around them. Henry is a good back, but the Titans needed to be a well rounded team before his role could become meaningful.

Hard to have use a 1st round pick on something that isn't useful.
