Okay; So I asked this question about a month ago (when I first joined these boards) in the AHL thread, but never saw any direct responses. I was wondering how many people here live in ECHL towns and follow their home teams. I just can't believe that I am the only one around here, but maybe now I will find out one way or another.
I moved up to Ft. Wayne from Indy 3.5 years ago (to follow my job), & have made it to around a dozen Saturday/Sunday games each season since. The Komets have been around - in one league or another - for some 60 years now, & are quite the draw here in town: Even on Sundays during College/NFL football season, it is nothing for them to draw 6,000+.
The Komets joined the ECHL this season, after a two year stint in the CHL (that's Central - not Canadian! ), and several before that in the 2nd incarnation of the IHL. They are currently nominally in the Anaheim Ducks developmental ladder system, one step below the Norfolk Admirals.
As of right now, the Komets are sitting in about the middle of their division & conference standings, with a 13-10-2 record. If they hold true to their past form, they will spend this year figuring out what they need to be a true competitor in this league, then come next year - watch out!
Just got home from a hard-fought Komets OT (2-1) victory against the Kalamzoo Wings.
