@ckhokie:

Your boys are in town on Wednesday. I work evenings, so I won't be able to attend that one.

4-1 good guys :thumb:

Well that could have gone better...

Titans over my Komets, 5-2.

In all other aspects, I would say that the game was about a draw (in fact we out-shot them 41-33), but our defenders just could not seem to clog up the lanes whenever the Titans were making a break for our goal.

Can't win like that. :nono:

I wasn't expecting to be back home until the 30th, but the family holiday get-togeather didn't quite work out as planned, so...

I was here for tonight's Komets/Elmira Jackels game: A good, hard fought affair with (shockingly) half-way decent officiating for once. The Komets were up 5-3 at the 1/2 way mark in the 3rd, but Elmira battled back to tie it up. It was looking like there would be some OT, but Ft Wayne stole the puck and slipped it past their gaolie with about 40 seconds to go. From there, they just camped out in front of their own goal and turned aside all of the Jackels' desperation attempts.

Next up: the annual New Years Eve game: This year's is vs. Toledo.

I miss my Bulls

loved the old southwest division. The regionalism made for a lot of hate and good games. brass, bulls, mystiks, sea wolves, ice pilots....

Komets took on the Toledo Walleye tonight: Hung in there with them through the 1st period, 2-2 - but after that Toledo shifted into a higher gear and burried Ft. Wayne, 9-4. :yield:

Snow fooling: Wranglers open doors, rally for win - Sports - ReviewJournal.com

doors being left open at Orleans Arena on Tuesday afternoon, the condition of the ice was perfect for the Indoor Winter Classic.

In an on-ice postgame ceremony, the Wranglers received a trophy wrapped in a golden padlock and chain that retails for $29, and defenseman Charlie Cook skated a victory lap with it.

I've never seen a game the likes of the one I saw tonight - & I sure as hell hope I never see one like it again, unless it's happening to the other team!

The Komets were playing the 2nd of 3 consecutive nights vs. the Cincinnati Cyclones, & dropped this one 5-2.

... But thats not the half of it.

One of Cincy's goals came when one of their players ricocheted the puck off of the back of a Komets D-man right into the net - & there was no crowd: It was just the D-man & the Goalie trying to stop a break-away.

Another Cincy goal came when the Komets goalie decided against covering up the puck & forcing a face-off - after he had already started to move like that was what he was going to do. Instead, he changed his mind and slapped the puck over to one of his D-men - who was not expecting it, given that he surely thought it was about to be covered. A Cincy player flies in from his blind side, steals the puck, & slaps it into the net before the D-man or the goalie can react.

The final Cincy goal of the night came in the last minute vs. 6 Komets attackers & an empty net. Cincy clears the puck out of their zone, and one Komet & one Cyclone go sprinting towards the puck, which is on it's way right towards the Ft. Wayne goal. The Komet gets there first but mishandles the puck, effectively stopping it dead. As he goes flying on by, the puck is right there waiting for the Cincy player, lined up not five feet from the goal mouth.

Thats three, count 'em, three Cincy goals that Komets players rightly deserve assist credits on. :burt:

D@MMIT!!!

Was going to go see the Komets for the first time in three weeks tonight. Went to Tilted Kilt for lunch & now I can't get my stomach & bowels to stop throwing fits!

Not another weekend Komets game for two more weeks.

Made it to my first Komets game in 5 weeks tonight...

... and wish that I hadn't bothered.

They were playing the Evansville Icemen, who sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference of the ECHL, so it was supposed to be a team that the Ks could handle, right?

Hung in there with E'ville well enough in the 1st, but then everything possible went wrong from there. Crappy calls made - & major offenses missed - by the refs. Bad bounces of the puck just when it would destroy the K's momentum. Missed passes because the guy who was supposed to be on the recieving end would look (& then skate) away just at the instant that the pass was made.

There was even one incident as the Ks were attacking when one player passed the puck from behind the goal to two teammates standing just fifteen feet infront of the goal & two feet apart from each other. They just stood there looking at each other as if to say; "No; you take it - I insist." as the puck slid between them & out beyond the blue line. :L

Komets lost, 4-2.

I did see one thing that I've never seen before:

Two players skating hard at the puck, which was along the base-boards, managed to knock it into the air. It landed on it's side on the top the the rink plexiglass & proceed to roll down the length of almost four panes before dropping back down onto the ice & into play once again.

Saw Komets vs. Florida Everblades tonight: Back half of two night home stand, with FL taking the Friday match, 6-3. Ft. Wayne looked mostly terrible tonight. Plenty of sloppy play, pathetic turnovers and a general lack of effort.

Frankly, they looked like they just didn't care. :gaah:

Needless to say, they lost tonight as well; 6-2.

Went to what will likely be my last Komets game for the season tonight. High scoring affair, with K's comming out on top of Evansville, 8-5.

Ft. Wayne is mathematically still in the playoff hunt, but need way too much 'help' from others for me to hold my breath at this point.

As I said from the start, this is - hopefully - a learning season as they adjust to ECHL-calibre play.

REPORTS: BRYZGALOV CLOSE TO SIGNING WITH LAS VEGAS OF ECHL

Former Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov appears to be Vegas bound.

According to reports, the 33-year-old Bryzgalov is close to signing with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL.

Bryzgalov was bought out by the Flyers last season after posting a .900 save percentage and 2.79 goals against average. The Russian native had seven years left on his nine-year, $51 million contract.

In 10 NHL seasons spent with the Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, and Flyers, Bryzgalov has 208 wins and career .931 save percentage and 2.55 goals against average.

Reports: Bryzgalov close to signing with Las Vegas of ECHL

If he signs, I'll have to go see him play. Should be fun.

Gwinnett Gladiators fan.
I was a season tix holder for the first 5 years. got jaded after years of being one of the best teams and then losing in the first round of the playoffs every year.

visited Fort Wayne back in '94 when the Atlanta Knights faced the Komets for the Turner Cup. Awesome fans in Ft Wayne.

I was wondering whether or not it would worth the effort to start up a 'new' ECHL thread once the '13/'14 season got under way: Looks like I have my answer. :suds:

I'm ready to see if the Komets have made the necessary roster adjustments to take a run at being a contender this season. :)
