Minor Leagues notes from yesterday.

Anthony Ranaudo had his longest and one of his best starts of the season. He allowed 2 runs and no walks in 7 innings. Ranaudo threw 97 pitches in 7 innings.

Odor was 2-4 with a HR for Round Rock.

After resetting his career by sending him to the low A level Cody Buckel only walked 1 in 4 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 3.

20 year old Yohander Mendez also threw 2 scoreless innings for Hickory striking out 3. That gives him 14.2 scoreless innings on the season while allowing only 11 baserunners and striking out 22.

Nick Williams was 2-4 with a walk and a double for Frisco.

I hope the crowd isn't full of dipshits that give Hambone too hard of a time. Personally speaking, I was in the stands his first game here as an Angel, in RF where he was playing, with a sign talking shit about him, and no one booed him more voraciously than I did.

That was then, this is now. This team needs every bit of help it can get, and if he can provide some of that, he deserves the opportunity. Hopefully the fans in the stands tonight understand that.

Time heals all wounds. In this case it may be true. There will be a few but I think most will welcome him back. Besides, he really shafted the Angels and how can you not like that.

I probably wouldn't boo him because of how his return shafted the Angels. Also, it's in our best interest to keep him as happy as possible.

Hopefully the crowd will be at least "decent" about his homecoming. Not expecting a "conquering hero" type welcome, but decent.

I suspect he's gonna get a fair amount of boos, and or, apathy for sure though.

So if someone conducts themselves tonight just like you did back then they're a dipshit?

^^^ especially that. He didn't cost prospects If he bombs out ... only costs $6mil over 6 years. If he performs close to his 2010-11 level ... only costs $6mil and he's not playing for LAA. All good.

Josh was received well in Frisco so I think he will be received well tonight. If he hits a big game changing HR he just might get a standing ovation.

Well, my overall point was that I hope the Rangers fans at the game tonight realize that May 2015 is nothing like April 2013.

In April 2013, you had Hamilton coming back to town on Opening Day after the perceived "quit" of Hamilton at the end of the 2012 season, you had the Rangers as a team losing 5 games in the standings in 9 days to give away the division at the same time, you had Hamilton's utter shitfest that was the WC play-in game, then the whole "baseball town" fiasco and then him signing with a division rival. Rangers fans were pissed, and Hamilton was the target. I probably took it a bit overboard, but there was plenty of motivation behind it. Plus, there was no reason to think the Rangers didn't have a great shot at winning the division again that year.

But today, things are a LOT different. Rangers fans have been knocked on their asses since Jan 10 of last year. The Rangers of 2014 had the worst record in the AL, and in 2015 it's not a stretch to say that just finishing at .500 could be considered a success. So yes, if there are fans still spewing that vitriol at Hamilton over 2 years later and after all the Rangers have been through, then I would definitely call that being a dipshit.

He's only signed for 3 more seasons and becomes a FA in 2018. Probably won't matter a whole lot to him or us by then though.

Really don't think he can perform close to 2010-11 levels now. If we get anything more than 70% of what he gave us then it's an upgrade over what we had going in LF anyway.

Rain 1 Rangers/Bosox 0:gaah:

It looks like we will be OK for tonight and tomorrow night. It appears most of the rain is coming in after midnight.

But then again, this long weather pattern we've been in has everything so saturated, it probably wouldn't take too much to put any game in jeopardy at this point.
