Wow, the Mariners have finally arrived!! :D We're tied for 1st place with the Stros and Athletics in our division too. :laugh3: Lets enjoy it while we can cuz it's not gonna last for very long. Seriously though, it was so nice to have a W for the opening at the Safe. The Pax man might just give us another W on Saturday and that would surely make my day. Would really like to see Voge and the Z man in that game Saturday. A series win against the tribe would make for an awesome start to the 2018 season. Go M's!!

Right now at 11pm March 30th we have sole possession of 1st place in the AL west with a 1-0 record. 1/2 game lead on the other 4 teams that are 1-1.

Paxton is currently doing everything in his power to erase that.

And the Pax man was more than successful in achieving that goal. Of course, if the manager would have taken him out when early on when he could see Pax was struggling the pen would have held it together and we'd of had another W. Thanks again for your outstanding managing Scotty!! Not sure if I can take another season with Servishit at the helm.

Not a Servais fan, but when do you pull him out? After the first? I highly doubt it. Most managers would have let their best pitcher go out in the second in that situation, to see if he calms down - which he did. After the second and third he had - there wasn't any reason not to let him go out in the 4th. Maybe, you don't send him out in the fifth - but since doing so didn't hurt the team, there's really no reason to be too critical of that decision.

I have no clue why they don't just turn everything over to the genius armchair managers on this board. It works for all the other teams!

I missed the first inning, did anyone go out prior to the GS? I don't see how anyone can put this loss on Servais. I do think he is a crappy manager and there is a reason no one in baseball even thought about him managing but can't put this on him. You can't really pinch hit for Seager and Healy in the middle of the game nor can you pull your ace after the 1st unless you sacrifice Leake (like Miranda last year) tomorrow because the pen would be spent.

Yah it was a 2 out GS.... sure enough next pitch was a routine grounder to Cano and easy out. Whatever.

The pinch hitting choices were terrible I admit and it didn't help Cruz went out by slipping in the dugout :L

Regardless, they left Paxton in which is correct. This team has spent a ton of money/trades on offense and there's zero reason we shouldn't have a reasonable expectation to put up 6+ runs in a game. Paxton was just all over the fuckin' place this game. Cleveland is also a WS/playoff contender. Not an easy team to beat by any means.

I disagree... In this series, when you're arguably facing one of the top offensive teams in MLB, you have to stretch out the starters innings as much as possible so the bullpen doesn't get spent... Your starters preparation is also mental... You can't just throw a different starter in the game at the whim because your starter looks like he's struggling in the pen... If Servais would've done so, it wouldn't have been Leake or one of our starters, it would've been our bullpen... Then we would've had a tired bullpen heading into todays game...

I didn't hear the post game with Servais either but Paxton is weird dude and might need someone more of a jerk to him. Paxton really turned it around a few years ago when Servais essentially questioned him manhood after the game so maybe during a mound visit he or the pitching coach need to lay into him. But like I said I didn't see the 1st inning.
