I stick with my original diagnosis - something is up with the fan. Weird that the battery is charging after all of that. Might want to give it a good sleep, and see what happens in the morning. I might take my own advice. good luck.

My laptop has been getting really hot lately. Like, burn my thigh hot.

Today I noticed that the battery icon says "Plugged in, not charging."

What the fuck is that noise? Everything is plugged in?

But your battery may have gone bad. But if it's heating up, you may have too much dust in the computer. Get air compressor and clean up the shit

lay the computer on ice, that will fix it , but laptop fans are known to get shitty when too much dust clumps up in em. You can even take the tube-shaped part of the vacuum and put it against the fan and ull be able to get pieces of dust that is in there through the little holes
