Chris Russell makes the case for Skins sucking in every area.

#Dolphins are (3-0) and have allowed 1,116 yards and 5 TD + 6 FG..They've given up more 1st downs, rush & pass yards & sacks than they have.

#Dolphins have allowed less yards & scores but here is key, turnover ratio is + 2 & they have converted on 50% of 3rd downs. They're (3-0)

Point is blame the defense, blame the QB, blame whoever you want. #Redskins have sucked in every area. #Dolphins in some. (3-0) vs (0-3)

The responsibility lies with both. The coaches need to ensure that the players are in the right scheme and that they know how to tackle and take the right angles (or field the right players to accomplish the task). The players have to execute. Neither are doing their job right now. At what point do we look to players on our practice squad (minnifield) or unactivated players (Murphy, Gumbs, Pugh) to see if they can tackle? They surely can't be worse.

The debate has become who is responsible for the missed tackles ? players or coaches.

Doc Walker & Brian Mitchell weighed in on this topic. They sounded like it is the players fault for not making tackles.

Probably take 24 hours for the show to be loaded to the audio vault

Just when you thought it could not get any worse ... i'm sure he'll credit the missed tackles on the team name, SMH

12m I'll be on @OTLonESPN at 4:30 talking about an 0-3 start for a certain football team.

Simply put - Mike Wise is a dick. His opinion is completely useless (as is the WP - kind of glad they implemented those charges to help motivate me to stay away from that rag).

Wise is one of the worst reporters I have ever read. I stopped reading anything he wrote a while ago.

As for Haslett, it will be interesting to see what happens. If the defense lays an egg again against the Raiders, the bye week is the perfect time to make a change. I still just don't see a clear replacement.

While Danny should publicly stay out of any coaching change (other than head coach), it is within his rights to let Shanahan know that he is very displeased with the performance of the defense during Shanahan's reign and he will not be accepting of continued terrible play. That puts the onus on Shanahan (where it belongs) to take the message and figure out how he's going to address it. Clearly, doing the same things that we have done for the last 3+ years isn't working.

I think I am surprised that no one called for the head of Raheem Morris. I don't think he was Haslett's choice. The defensive problems have occured mostly in the defensive backfield and I think the Redskin DBs have been at their worst under him.

While the secondary has been terrible for the most part (save for some periodic good plays by Hall) that does not portray the complete picture. Pass defense has been a problem also because of a pass rush that has been ineffective for the most part. Also - poor tackling up front on many occasions has led to runners getting into the secondary where we see even more bad tackling. We have also witnessed poor coverage by some of the linebackers.

This is a poor team effort for the most part. I agree that Morris - as well as the players - needs to share the blame. My issue with Haslett is that he has now been with Redskins for a long time & has very little to show for it. Sure - some of this is due to lack of personnel that is the result of many things. However - if he is going to remain blameless then to me that would indicate that the role of defensive coordinator is really not that important. If that is the case then why get worked up if he is kicked to the curb?

All that being said - if they can somehow turn it around somewhat on defense then great & everyone can be reevaluated. I am just tired of the roller coaster defense over the last 3-4 years which has mainly been on the downside. I am especially tired of a defense where many people want to assign no blame to the coaches. The blame falls on some rookies, RG3, special teams, etc, etc. Everyone except the coach.

Time to be realistic about the situation.

Agree. For those maintaining that you don't fire coaches mid-season or that a replacement will be no better please just give me ONE reason why this guy is a decent coach. Just one - waiting....

Again - my fear is that if he survives this season there is a chance that he returns next season - arrrggghhhh......

Even if it's not much of an upgrade, I have no issue with holding a guy accountable.

Until we change to a scheme that fits our current personnel, we won't get much better as a defense. We can improve our tackling, assignments and technique to a degree however, square pegs don't fit into round holes and that is what we have been trying to do for several years now with our front 7. It's time for change (Haslett) and it's time for a scheme change (4-3).

The team has 3-4 personnel now, not 4-3. You would have to revamp the players on the team. 3-4 vs. 4-3 has nothing to do with how the defense is playing.

Really? So let's continue to let Orakpo & Kerrigan cover guys down the field then. I'm glad you have your blinders on while watching games. I tell you what, let's just hope the defense improves in the current state, scheme, personnel or whatever you call it and magically, it will just happen. :omg:

Umm, Kerrigan has been an awesome OLB for us and Orakpo has show flashes. People don't seem to understand that most OLB's in the NFL played DE in college. There is no reason to think Kerrigan would be more effective in a 4-3. When he drafted him people were down on the pick when he was coming from a DE, we moved him to OLB and he has been nothing short of phenomenal (and sturdy) and now they are saying he would be more effective if he went back to the 4-3? Based on WHAT exactly?

Kind of like people saying Cousin's is a better pocket passer than RG3. Based on WHAT? His 1.5 games? Against the Browns?
