I always felt the big OOC games were played early so that a losing team could still recover in time for a decent bowl. A late season OOC loss by an SEC team would kill them in the rankings and drastically drop bowl bids

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. Tne SEC's scheduling this weekend (outside of LSU/Ole Miss) is calculated to ensure the SEC teams maintain a strong Top 10 presence late season and keeps a couple teams in the NCG chase.

Brilliant maneuver by their front offices.

Remember last month Vandy cancelled it's early 2013 season OOC games with Northwestern and Ohio St due to "conference scheduling" issues. Who do you think Vandy will fill that late season open date with?

And likewise, it ensures that an OOC loss will doom them to the FriedFat.com bowl on December 8th while another team could still recover from that loss.

They're playing the lowest of the low from the FCS...it's an automatic W.

Michigan wanted me to say "hello" to you.

And Sam Houston isn't a push over.

The rest of the conferences use those as "Tune Up" games going into conference play. The SEC uses them to avoid knocking each other out of the Top 10 late in the year and as "Tune Up's" for their final game.

You gotta admit it's effective. The SEC will hold the majority of those 6 Top 10 positions they are occupying going into bowl season and opening in the polls next season.

Everybody's got an excuse in the SEC fuckfest.

Teams : "The main office gives us our conference schedule, we have to schedule around it".

SEC Office: "We have no control over who individual teams schedule OOC. Schools report they have a difficult time getting better competion."

How is this the "SEC fuckfest"? Is there some rule that everyone but the SEC has to play their OOC early on?

Or are those that now see the brilliance just being butthurt children?

SEC main office issues our conference schedules, the schools have ZERO control over those games. They then hve to fill the open dates with available teams...no excuses, just facts. The 2013 SEC schedules were released a month ago...

True but the SEC needs to adjust their conference scheduling to be like the other conferences if they want to schedule good teams otherwise they are just being chicken shit about it.

By chicken shit do you mean consistently putting a team near the top of the rankings and in the NCG?

If so, then sounds like other conferences need to stop being averse to change and get with the program.

I wont disagree with that, however, you would think the other conferences would have got the picture by now...the SEC obviously knows what it it doing with the schedules.
