I always felt the big OOC games were played early so that a losing team could still recover in time for a decent bowl. A late season OOC loss by an SEC team would kill them in the rankings and drastically drop bowl bids

The rest of the conferences use those as "Tune Up" games going into conference play. The SEC uses them to avoid knocking each other out of the Top 10 late in the year and as "Tune Up's" for their final game.

You gotta admit it's effective. The SEC will hold the majority of those 6 Top 10 positions they are occupying going into bowl season and opening in the polls next season.

Teams : "The main office gives us our conference schedule, we have to schedule around it".

SEC Office: "We have no control over who individual teams schedule OOC. Schools report they have a difficult time getting better competion."

SEC main office issues our conference schedules, the schools have ZERO control over those games. They then hve to fill the open dates with available teams...no excuses, just facts. The 2013 SEC schedules were released a month ago...

True but the SEC needs to adjust their conference scheduling to be like the other conferences if they want to schedule good teams otherwise they are just being chicken shit about it.

By chicken shit do you mean consistently putting a team near the top of the rankings and in the NCG?

If so, then sounds like other conferences need to stop being averse to change and get with the program.

Ok.. Just took a look at florida's schedule next year.. we only have one crap team and two acc teams on our schedule..the crap team is toledo and its the first game if the season..so now that drivel don't wash anymore.
