Has Jimmy Graham passed Rob Gronkowski as the best TE in the league?

I would like to see Gronkowski play without Tom Brady before anointing him the greatest. Vernon Davis has a lot of good years with Alex Smith as his QB, hard to compare something like that to playing on the patriots with Tom Brady.

Right now, clearly Graham is the best TE in the game in regards to how each player is playing THIS YEAR. There really isn't a valid argument otherwise.

Not even close?

Don't be a homer just for the sake of it. Whether you agree he is or isn't, Vernon Davis is certainly in the discussion.

You should take your own advice. I was a fan of Vernon Davis before you even knew who he was and he is absolutely not in this discussion.

I would agree with this point but Brees is the top of the next tier and it's not like graham is playing with a bum.

This second point was my first comment. Gronk hasn't touched the field and gets a scar until he does. I like him healthy but is he back at that level? We can't know.

Clever, announcing yourself as an expert.

Either way Vernon Davis IS in the argument...

The top five TE's in this league are..

Witten, Gonzalez, Gronk, Graham, and Davis.

That puts Davis in the discussion. You know who isn't even remotely close to the discussion for greatest QB in the game? Flacco, even though Ravens paid him like he was.

Yep. 2011 they were 1A and 1B. It's been Graham ever since.

You can keep pulling out the injury card, but that doesn't play here.

You're on crack. I think your boy Suggs is sharing his supply with you. I don't know who sounds more insane at this point but I'm leaning towards you.

Of course Flacco isn't. He whipped your team's ass though. You have also proven to be as completely uneducated on the subject of NFL contracts as you are on the subject of the best TEs in the game.

That's not what Sluggs said. He said Goodell tried to turn the lights out on you guys' season. :laugh3:

When do you think Gronkie's parents will let him come out and play?

NinerSickness said it best... if Vernon Davis was a patriot his numbers would be staggering. He played on some pretty poor teams and had Alex Smith as his QB long before he became a decent QB.

But we will never know. But his size, run blocking and speed are off the charts for a TE. Graham and Gronkowski have better hands than Davis, and Gronkowski is the quintessential throwback TE in my opinion. He can run block with the best of them. Graham is more athletic and probably the best route runner of a TE I have ever seen. Without taking injuries or this seasons numbers into consideration I would have to take Gronkowski over him. Although right now Graham is the best in the game.

But in the end I would rather have Davis than all of them, I really would. The guy runs a 4.38 40, 6'3" and weighs 255 lbs. He is an excellent blocker and he can stretch the field like no other TE in the league. Of course, I admit, that could be the niner homer in me talking, but thats how I feel.

When Flacco signed his contract he was the highest paid player at that moment. Thats good enough for me to get a good long chuckle....

I can understand why you are so defensive though, I probably would be too.

no he wouldnt. we had a vernon davis, his name was ben watson and ran a 4.44 40. too bad he had hands of stone. davis hands are better but not even close to gronk and graham.

My favorite thing about gronk isn't the prototypical, good blocker, great down the field target, or anything else you said. I like how he runs with the ball in his hands. That's what sets him apart IMO. Bring him down in space.

The only knock I have against Vernon Davis is.....his initials are VD
