Has Jimmy Graham passed Rob Gronkowski as the best TE in the league?

People are so reactionary. There was also a smattering of talk of Brees being the best QB in the league in the MNF thread. Puhlease.
He looks that way on turf. On grass? Drop him about 5 spots

Also, Gronk is way ahead of Graham still IF he is playing. He have to give props to the guys thats actually on the field, though. And VD isnt in this discussion at all.

graham looks like he bulked up some to compared to when he first came in and thats been one of the knocks on him compared to gronk, not as physical. but he looks beastly right now.

Vernon Davis is incredibly gifted...easily the fastest tight end in the nfl...but physically he's nowhere near as dominant as Gronk or Graham and numbers wise he's never produced up to the level of talent that he possesses

Top 4 TEs right now is

Graham
Gronk
Tony G
Jordan Cameron

Yes

IMO, he's the most dangerous weapon in the NFL...period. With a QB like Brees that is accurate with the height as well as direction, doubling him is almost useless.

If I were a Lion's fan, I might qualify saying "Calvin Johnson is the best WR in the NFL" with the statement "I'm not being a homer."

That is a legit statement to make regarding Calvin Johnson. He just set the NFL record for receiving yards and teams have to game plan to stop him each and every week.

While Vernon Davis is a TE that can stretch the field -- He isn't in the same ball park when it comes to pass catching TE's. Davis has never broke 1000 yards in a season and in 107 games -- he has 43 TDs (13 coming in one season). Gronk has 38 touchdowns already in only 43 games, by the time he reaches 107 games -- he will have double the touchdowns of Davis.

Being the fastest TE is nice, but Gronk and Graham can both run. Both a bigger targets and great route runners, who have unbelievable hands. That is what separates them from pretty much every TE right now.

I would put Vernon Davis in the top 5-10, but to mention him in the same breathe as Gronk and Graham is silly.

The only reason I wouldn't put Vernon Davis in the same class as Gronk/Graham is in the redzone all you have to do is throw the ball up and Gronk/Graham will come down with it. They will body out and overpower whoever is covering them. Davis is faster and possibly a better route runner but he doesn't have the hands and isn't as physically dominating.

NFL.com's Around The League released their latest position power rankings a few days ago.

they have:

1. Gronk - When he's on the field, there's nobody better. Even with eight missed games over the past two seasons, no tight end in NFL history has started his career in more impressive fashion. As unguardable as Graham seems in the end zone, Gronk is the most dominant red-zone presence in the league.

2. Graham - Graham has been the most unstoppable mismatch in the NFL this season thus far

3. Vernon Davis - Davis is an all-around tight end with a freakish size-speed combination, but he's been just shy of the transcendence of Graham and Gronkowski. His receiving skills remain under appreciated because the 49ers have kept him in to block so often under coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

If opposing defenses ignore Antonio Gates as much as the posters in this thread, the Chargers should be in good shape.

He is a future hall of famer and currently 2nd in receiving behind Graham amongst tight ends.

So you don't even have to play to make your top 4 "right now".

Faster, but not quite as big as Gronk, and Graham. In fairness to Davis, he hasn't played with a QB on the same level as Brady, and Brees. When it comes down to Gronk & Graham...kind of a coin toss, but I think Graham would be my pick.

Yes, Megatron puts up outstanding #s, but no a ton of TDs for that many catches...Graham is a scoring machine.

im a pats fan and i think so.

That would require Gronk to actually play. If you want to say he's better right now then I'll say yes. When Gronk is playing and healthy then I emphatically say no. Gronk is the best when healthy.

not so sure graham has bulked up and defenders are now bouncing off him like they do gronk. gronk has had back and arm surgery and looks alot skinnier than he used to, im not sure he will be the same force. graham seemed to turn his force up, gronk seem to turn it down, they were already incredibly even.

They were 1A and 1B in 2011. It's been Graham ever since. Injuries are not an excuse. Durability is an asset.

Gronk didn't turn anything down he was injured. Bottom line when both are at 100% health and playing condition Gronk is better, but not by leaps and bounds. This is Manning Brady part two, in the end it's all presonal opinion and you can't really argue opinion.
