Not sure if it contributed to his performance all season but his mechanics have been a disaster from the 4th/5th inning on all year. It's a bummer for sure, hopefully Wheeler can come in and be a solid number 3/4. We need guys going deep into games or we desperately need bullpen help because they are on a disastrous pace right now.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is the new cool thing for pitchers now, huh? A couple years ago a pitcher getting diagnosed with it came with a paragraphs-long explanation. Now it seems like it's popping up all over.

How long until high schoolers start "preventatively" getting a rib removed?

hopefully he's back to being a great pitcher again next year. Be a shame to see another young pitcher's career derailed by injury.

Josh Beckett threw a no-hitter after his Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery. Dodgers' prospect Frankie Montas was throwing in the upper 90s after his, but he's been derailed with a separate rib fracture that is apparently related to his surgery (he had it just before or at the beginning of Spring Training).

So, there's two cases to look at, for what that's worth.
