Seems that the Rangers and Padres are the most interested. They both have coveted prospects to offer.
Although I like the Padres prospects more. The Rangers are desperate for a number one starter. The Padres have new owners who are willing to spend. The Cubs and Red Sox are reluctant to give up top prospects so the may pursue Shields or Sherzer. The action for Hamels may be heating up!

Rangers have a guy named Yu, think he is probably their #1 followed by Holland at #2. Not desperate for a #1 but could use another starter. I'd take Hamels as long as Alfaro and Gallo aren't on the table

I just hope Amaro doesn't royally screw this up.

He may ask for a Texas steer on this deal. That way we could make some Philly cheese steaks! One more way to fatten the deal!

Well yes Bmurph but I have been the hardest on braindead for nearly two years now. Just ask any of the regulars that come on here. I was hoping his blind squirrel moemtn would eb a good but even that would probably being asking too much as well. Thus the comment.

I'm mostly sure Hamels will be gone in a month but I just feel I'll look at the announcement and say WTF, Ruben and your assistant Ed.

It looks like the Rangers are close to getting Gallardo so they probably won't be looking for another starter. In my opinion, the right move is if there is a team that wants Hamels and has some good prospects but is hesitant because of his contract, the Phillies need to pay up. It's not that Hamels has a bad contract, but if paying half of it means you get better prospects I think you have to take the chance. They've shed some payroll trading Rollins, Byrd and getting rid of Burnett. Sure, you might have people thinking you're stupid paying 200 million this year for a bad team, but if those prospects pay off in a couple years you'll have a contender with a low payroll. And we saw just a couple years ago how much money they can potentially make with a contending team, with all the sellouts and tv ratings. In today's mlb I think the best chance to get a winner is to invest in young guys and international players, not free agents.

Looks like another trading partner said screw it. Was it about the $$$ or the prospects this time.... Does it really matter with the stooge Amaro running the show. The only hope we have is if Gillick really is in a power struggle with this stooge and wins it. Removing this incompetent fool from the GM spot is the first order of business to rebuilding this team.

I think we are stuck with Amaro for 1 more season. The Phillies do no want to introduce a new GM and hand this mess to him. This organization is full of figureheads including Gillick and Ryno. Up until recently
Amaro has run everything. The fans have been screaming for a while but nobody listened. The sad part about Amaro staying is the fact that he will still have Ryno as his puppet. We need a manager with some guts!

And a GM who is not totally braindead and a manager who knows baseball and has a purpose for being a manager besides collecting a paycheck until he falls over.
