I called this trade as soon as Detroit lost out on Suh. Ravens get 4th and 5th rounders as well as peace of mind knowing he is over in NFC. The alternative was cutting him and having a competitor sign him...which, of course, would have sucked.

BTW...Ozzie began preparing for this day when he drafted Jernigan last year (and Brandon Williams 2 years ago).

Sucks to see him go but it's the only thing they could do to free up cap space besides restructuring.

He was one of the best players on the team but fortunately they have enough depth at DL that it shouldn't be a big dropoff next year.

That 10m cap hit from releasing Rice fucked them over bad this year. Luckily their cap will look a lot better next year (even before restructuring Flacco's contract).

Solid surrounding cast, but Ngata was a legit playmaker from the inside...Jernigan shows a lot of promise...will have to see how he can handle a full season healthwise...but there will be a drop off to Ngata's level....arguably one of the top 5 DTs in football. At the same time...I understand the move...getting something in return and ridding a huge cap hit.

Lions had 17 million and change under the cap. Ngata counts 8.5.

The Ravens were going to cut him and Detroit hard to keep him off the market or he gets 10-13 million for 3-5 years in this market.
