I don’t ever think Gronk was as fluid as Kelce in the NFL. They’re different- but both one of the better talents you will ever see play TE in the NFL.
fluid? fair. kelces built more like a WR in those terms.. Gronks like an athletic tackle.

i just think gronks more of a natural WTF freak than kelce.
Gronk is more physical than Kelce. He played just physical enough not to get flags thrown. If you can do that then you can be like Darrelle Revis or Gary Payton and really just dominate.

Kelce uses length, acceleration/deceleration changes and some physical play.

Like comparing Juggernaut to Wolverine

Gronk: IMO I bigger threat and better pass catcher with large catch radius. And a hell of a lot better blocker.

"When I get the ball in my hands I'm a different type of athlete," Kelce said in 2017 on the Dan Patrick radio show. "Gronk's going to run around there like a Clydesdale, run through everything, like a big boulder. I'm more a guy who can make people miss, break somebody down with a juke move or slide off tackles. Gronk can just break everything."

The two tight ends, who are known for having a good time off the field as well as on it, meet on Sunday night when the Chiefs travel to New England. According to Gronkowski, they've "just met real quick before" and "don't know each other," but there is mutual admiration.

"Definitely have to appreciate him," Gronkowski said of Kelce during Monday's Sirius XM NFL Radio interview with Bruce Murray and Brady Quinn. "He is a great talent, and he can get some good separation and run some good routes. He's definitely a player to look at; just the way he runs and gets open is awesome. So it's going to be a good challenge when we play him this Sunday."

Kelce is looking to continue his regular-season success against Gronk in the prime-time game. His Chiefs teams are 2-0 against New England in the regular season and Kelce has 13 catches with one touchdown.

Definitely in his prime.

I remember the Chiefs/Pats playoff game a couple of years back. Alex Smith couldn't match Tom Brady at the goalline because he missed Kelce by just a hair. Gronk on the other end just literally shoved the Chiefs DB out of the way (within 5yds IIRC) and made an uncontested grab.

I'm not sure Gronk > Kelce anymore but I guess we'll find out

Opened this assuming it was Brees making a tough decision in his three team League.

I'd take Kelce. Even though he's the biggest douche in football. He ain't brittle.

Not sure we'll find out. Depends on what schemes the teams are running

Maybe.

Eric Berry is maybe the 2nd most important player on the Chiefs outside of QB when it comes to the Chiefs-Pats matchup. Chiefs dont win Week 1 last year without Berry. No Eric Berry then Gronk creates all sorts of issues for the Chiefs even if he doesnt catch many balls

I think at least I feel this way the Pats are going to try and run the ball, a lot and use Edelman for little dink and dunk passes, to keep the Chiefs offense on the sideline. Gronks biggest asset this game may be his blocking.

I think Kelce is clearly better now, but Gronk has had the better career to date. Both are better than Ertz IMO, who is skilled but has amazingly little run after the catch ability for a man his size. He falls to the ground at the first sign of contact.

Both teams have weapons, and these are mighty ones. The battle for best TE in the game, now.

Kelce is better now but Ertz is having the best season of all 3 now
