With the tight end position so inconsistent and who knows who is or isnt elite or anything the question remains, who's better or who would you rather have?

Gronk or Kelce?

Gronk is slowing down due to injuries and Mahomes has so many other weapons, tough call imo

Right now: Kelce by a hair
Moving forward: Kelce
Career: Gronk

Gronk has been really subpar on my fantasy team this year. Kelce also had a strong game against Myles Jack

not even a homer pick, but it has to be gronk. gronk looks like hes lost 1/2 step, which is fine. hes still unstoppable when he needs to be. kelces a bigger part of what KC does.

gronks only a few months older too and has twice the career stats.

He came into the league much earlier than Kelce; and that's with Kelce having a microfracture his rookie year in 2013.

They've both taken a lot of abuse over the years. I don't think either is in the league five years from now but Gronk might not be in the league two years from now with how much he breaks down.

Yeah, I either see him (Gronk) retiring at seasons end or after next season.

Cant go wrong with either one. Kelce has less wear on him

In hindsight, if Kelce wasn't a moron in college and was a TE from the get go, he'd probably have much better stats, just a guess.

yeah, both guys play like every play is their last. cant go wrong with either. i just think gronks more of a natural WTF freak than kelce.

when he first came into the league, probably til age 26ish, he was the most dominant non QB on the football field.

as far as this year goes gronks still on pace for about 1,000 yards. kelces about 1300.

How so? Kelce is quite a bit more fluid than Gronk is. Kelce's deceleration is pretty absurd for a guy that big and fast.

He was a QB before he was a TE.
in college? i see TE freshman year. he was a QB in HS.

Kelce was a quarterback in high school and college so it’s not totally foreign to him. He’s one of those athletes that probably would’ve been successful anywhere. If he had stayed a quarterback in college, I would expect to see him in the NFL as a quarterback. The Chiefs are lucky he ended up being a tight end and ended up being available in the third round.

Pretty sure he had a redshirt in there. Memory of this is a ways out considering it was 2013 draft stuff and lord knows I don't follow Cincy Bearcat football.

That he is but Gronk has lost a step due to injuries. Both can gain yards after the catch and shove people off however

I don’t ever think Gronk was as fluid as Kelce in the NFL. They’re different- but both one of the better talents you will ever see play TE in the NFL.

how so?

he was THE toughest matchup in the game, and in many ways still is. not my words.

BTW

that statement isnt own, it came from somewhere.

theres a reason even your old TE himself once said "gronk can be the best to ever play"

that was 2015

maybe its just because i havent seen or heard it, but has the same been said about kelce by these guys?

Tony Gonzalez: Rob Gronkowski ‘Absolutely’ Can Be Best Tight End Ever

“Yes, absolutely (he can be the best ever),” future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez told Howe. “I’ll say this, as long as he’s got Tom Brady there — and Tom says he wants to play another seven years until he’s 45 years old — he has a shot, absolutely.”
“I think he is already one of the best tight ends you’re going to say that ever played the game,” two-time All-Pro Mark Bavaro added. “If you want to say he’s the greatest of all-time, that just remains to be seen. Does he have the potential to do it? Absolutely.
” “Playing now, he’s the best tight end in football,” offered Shannon Sharpe, who already has been enshrined in Canton. “There’s no debating that. … He might be better than we’ve ever seen him. And that’s scary.”
