Considering what the Pats looked like without him, he should get some MVP talk. Not that it will happen, as everyone seemed to decide it would be Cam's year around mid-October, but he's obviously the best at his position in the league, one Hell of a mismatch for anyone, and very much a game changer. I'd take him over most "elite" WRs and RBs any day.

Tony G had better hands but Gronk is probably better in every other aspect.

Big point of comparison here is that Trent Green is no Tom Brady so I think that Tony G looks a little worse because of that.

Gronk is playing in a more passer friendly era than Gonzales did in his first 6 years. That being said I rarely say "The best ever" for any position because I haven't seen the old time players. I just try to determine if they're in the conversation and Gronk is without a doubt one of, if not the 2 best I've ever seen.

I'm going back further than that when I say there's guys I didn't see.. And in Gonzales early days it isn't like today where we could see every out of market game and there's 15 ports channels with the highlights etc.

10 years is a long career for a Tight End. Gronk would be a HOFer for sure if he hit that mark. I'm just not sure you could label him as the best ever. He'd be like the Shaq of TEs.

The guy that keeps coming up with the older guys when talking about TE's is Kellen Winslow. I didn't see enough of him and he only played 9 or 10 years. Hard to compare eras though.
