wow -- those numbers are impressive .. especially Barfield's

I knew Davis was athletic but damn!! With that vertical, LT/MD needs to be taking red zone fade pattern reps A LOT.

Was just reminded of Knowles too. I've heard good things about he and Asante .. Hopefully they get some good reps this season too.

James Gayle ‏ @JGayle99
Just broke the vert record 39.5 lol hopefully it will last the whole day. Daddi might get that though

His last weight on the HokieSports roster was 257...holy crap!

I meant Dadi is a lot slimmer than Gayle :)

OCain on Motely: “I like Brenden a lot. I like him physically. And the thing he hasn’t been asked to do is drop back and stand in the pocket and have to pick out a receiver."

I can't imagine this being an easy transition for Motely. If we land a couple QB recruits this year, I bet Motely gets moved to a new position in a heartbeat.

He was a killer safety- if we can get Bucky, I'm all for moving him

Michael Holmes tweeted that he ran a 4.49 forty, which is good....
James Gayle tweeted that he ran a 4.42. DANG

Dadi also isn't 260. He is more like 220.

From everything I've heard Dadi is much heavier now than he was this time last year... I've heard 240+ mentioned not all that long ago. Dadi came from a very low income family where it was probable that he wasn't getting enough from a calorie stand point to nourish a D1 football physique. Coach Gentry and the student meal plan have done wonders for him from what I understand.

I'm so excited to see Holmes in action, I love his vertical as well as the sub 4.5 forty. He might not be sticking around for 4 more years with that kind of athleticism

theres no way gayle ran a 4.42...

Depends upon your definition of the 40, there are many variables to consider when running the 40.....electronic/hand timing, running surface, clothing, and even the altitude. He technically probably did run a 4.42, but the variables he encountered at VT would have been different had it taken place in Indianapolis last weekend. So if your definition of a 40 time is = to what he would have run at the combine, then no he almost certainly would not run a 4.42... but on the other hand if your definition of the 40 is how long did it take him to run 40 yards at VT, then yes he most likely did run a 4.42.

true. what im saying is that it is impossible that he ran a 4.42 that would translate to the indy combine. at the combine id imagine he'd be a 4.6-4.7 guy, especially if wilson was in the 4.4 range...

I agree... but Indianapolis is a notoriously slow track as well, so Indy probably isn't the most accurate figure either for a true 40 time. I think he would probably be in the mid to high 4.5 range if he got a good start. Gayle is pretty dang quick for his size, and has a tremendous amount of lower body strength/explosiveness which is evident by his other workout numbers this winter. He's probably in the same ballpark as Worilds as far as quicks go... and is bigger to boot.

decent Q&A by Chris on TSL ..

A good point was made down in the comments .. A great D-line for the O-line to work against spring-to-fall SHOULD really help the offensive line be challenged. It sure as hell won't hurt. I'd say that VT's d-line will be drastically better than just about any other d-line that we face this season (fsu/unc maybe?)
