Ruiz is better now than Slaty is at 28. Salty was benched in the World Series for poor performance. Most teams should have realized how bad Salty is at the catcher position, but, yet, here we are with him getting a three year deal.

Ruiz is still a good catcher and isn't a liability in the field.

I'm not saying he is capable of fetching a collection of great prospects. Buy he is tradeable. The notion that he would be a DH seem a bit off.

Sure, he's tradeable with a half-decent GM. But again, that's not the reality of the situation. And considering he will be 36 and 37 by the time his contract is up, DH'ing or playing first base is something he would have to be OK with.

For what it's worth Ruiz, has probably been the second best player on this team. That may not sound like a lot, but the guy can still produce. But when you're as old as Ruiz is, your body starts to break down. How many 36+ year old catchers are there in baseball right? Probably not many, if any at all.

And yet Tampa will be using Jose Molina (39) for nearly 100 games this season and Boston will have A.J. Pierzynski (37) behind home plate for 130 games.

Their is a market for productive catchers.

Sure. But that's a rarity. And Pierzynski has been largely average this year while Molina has a .320 OPS

So, what your saying is that Ruiz will find a team interest. Glad we agree.

Actually, I said he will attract mild interest from the very start. I just don't think that should be discussed in a "realistic" thread with Ruben.

And since you're going to ask where I said this, it's right here, and in another post. Maybe Pat Gillick would be good enough to trade him. But not Amaro.

Fuck you, punk. You won't be saying that when you're 36. (no offense)

Nice try but Schmitty would never get a Sports SportsHoopla account. He views the kid's new gizmos as an even bigger threat to baseball than the pansiness of Buster Posey
