Maybe he should have waited until the off-season to trade CoHo?

I agree, Holmgren should have made the finals, he made some bold and daring moves that really paid off this season.

My thinking as well

Gillis (a second ago): "I spent more time on issues with Cody than any other player on this team"

oh to have been a fly on the wall during Coho's meeting / non-meeting with Vigneault

Should be Holmgren, Tallon and Armstrong.

Bryan Murray should actually get an HM here too. The Turris trade has been very good for the Sens, and the Bishop deal may have saved their season. He also had a fantastic draft last summer. He isn't a finalist for this year but he deserves mention as a top 5 or 6 this season.

Poile made lots of moves at the deadline but really.. were they good moves. Kostitsyn, Gill and to a lesser extent Gaustad have provided pretty weak returns for a 1st, 2 seconds and Geoffrion.

Nashville is good because of Poile's work over the last several years, not particularly because of his work in 2011-2012.

I agree that Holmgren should have been nominated, but GM of the Year often works like macroeconomics, there's a 1-4 year lag to it.

true.. and i feel it often times goes to the team that's the biggest surprise.. regardless of what was actually surprising (be it a trade that worked out, or just a mediocre player having a breakout season, the latter of which has very little to do with the GM)

the Bryz deal cost Holmgren

i think if he traded JVR for Schneider when it was out there, you could nomintae him for this award for the next 5 years

Out of those 3, Tallon seems like the no brainer to me. He brought in a bunch of guys with question marks that have wound up paying dividends. Campbell and Versteeg have been solid, Theodore had a bit of a resurgence this year as well. Did anybody see Florida winning the division and potentially getting to the 2nd round?
