I think this may be the point that Homer was trying to make this off-season, if you don't buy into the system and bust your ass game in and game out you won't be here long. Now I'm not saying there weren't other issues that contributed to Richie and Carter leaving, but look at the players we have as forwards now. They're all hard working, relatively defensive responsible players(with the exception of Briere who I never want to see in teh defensive zone and possibly Vorachek since I never watched a Jackets game but who has?). If everyone plays the system the team will be extremely competitive this season.

if couturier pans out, along with his rookie contract

and if voracek is signed for around 2.5

and if schenn is as good as advertised, with his 3.5 for three more seasons

then the budget on for the forwards looks pretty darned good. great talent at affordable prices. this is the kind of flexibility i have longed to see for 2 decades.

now we ride these horses until they ask for the sun and moon in their contract years. then we keep the keepers and flip the others for great value the same as we did for carter and richards.

I'd throw back beers with you anywhere JS, but.....there is NO fucking way in this lifetime that I would spend approx 500 bucks for a road trip to beantown just to watch a world champion banner being raised for those jitbag Bruins.
