I think it is a bush league move considering they offered to let him start every game to keep his streak alive. We all knew this was coming. Giants will be drafting an early round QB this coming year.

Why is it bush league? Cuz its Eli? Shit akin to this or worse happens every day to players in the NFL and no one bats an eye. Now all over sudden the NFL is being a big ol' meanie.

Saying a two time Super Bowl MVP QB got lucky on two throws and did nothing but make two throws is hilarious.

Eli didn't deserve that first Super Bowl MVP. Just like Brady deserve his first Super Bowl MVP. That was just lazy decision making on the part of the people picking the SB MVP those years.

It's bush league because they offered to let him start just to keep the streak going but then going to pull him out. Glad he said no to that. Am I shocked they want to sit him? No, for Geno Smith ... yeah. But I think they are looking for a top of the class QB.

Your entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. No one truly stood out in that game. He deserved it as much as anyone else.

The Giants gain almost $10M in cap space by ditching Eli next year. IF they can save $10M, draft a top tier rookie and look like the good guys by "giving him a chance to catch on with another team early", they are all over it.

Considering the Giants season, Eli's age and less than stellar play this year I figured all along he is gone at the end of this season. It makes sense to make that move. I don't really understand the move to bench him now or even more stupid to let him start with the plan to pull him later in the game. That's just stupid. If the Giants want to be a dumpster fire I am all for it.

Eli can probably play another couple of years, he may find a place where he would be a good fit. He'll be Eli, a pretty good QB.

Eli once again gets to play the baby brother. And by that I mean, the Colts could NOT abandon Payton without a rock solid replacement. The Giants realize that if they cut Eli, and replace him with a 3rd best QB.. there will be backlash. So they are in full blown lets see what wee got and tank on the sly mode.

Chiller.... at the end of the day Eli is basically NFL royalty. If this is his last season, much like Romo, he will be given a job butchering in game commentary and ride it out until he is inducted into the HOF.

Well yeah, but if he is royalty, then that MF'er is Charles waiting for nothing, while is brother is the queen (literally).:pound:

I personally don't think that benching him now is a dumb or classless move, in fact just the opposite, right now their drafting position is 3rd, and their best chance at winning is with Eli at QB. Removing him almost assures them of maintaining that spot and possibly supplanting S.F. at #2.

There was talk here about "tanking" the remainder of the season.....Well, in N.Y.....there you go!

I guess I am not making myself clear. I understand why they are benching him. They are tanking. I don't believe in tanking. Even more so I think it is bush league to say we are tanking but we will let you start every game so you can keep your streak intact but we are going to pull you after a couple of series so we can tank with Geno.

No one stood out? Huh? The Giants defense, particularly the DL of Osi, Tuck, and Strahan all stood out by holding the Pats record setting offense, QB and WR to 14 total points. That was the only time that entire season NE failed to put up 20 or more points in a game. That Giants defense led by that DL kicked the Pats OL's ass and Brady's ass by extension. Moss

And it just wasn't Tyree's catch that was fortunate for the Giants on that drive. Eli getting out of Seymour's before he made the throw was very fortunate. Assante Samuel who was the game's best ballhawk back then, dropping an INT was also fortunate for the Giants team, Eli in particular. They gave with an emphasis on gave Eli a SB MVP because of his last name and the position he plays, but he didn't deserve it.

And the Giants are tanking now eh. How can you tell? Is it the Giants having the 3rd worst W/L record before benching Eli's ass. Or the whooping 172 points/15.6 per game NY has scored which is 2nd worst in the NFL right now that gives it away that NY is now tanking.
