To me, it looked like started his stretch to early which makes it really hard to pick a ball if it’s in the right spot. My 1B’s always told if it was going to be short at least get it to the dirt for a scoop. I never played first so I don’t know. Maybe during the stretch you are more in a picking mode not figuring out a hop? I don’t know. I just feel bad cause Crawford made a tough play, I get the error because it was a bad throw but a gold glove 1B has to get that IMO.

Never played 1B either but always heard long hops better than short hops and that was plenty long. Usually they miss it when the balls flattened out and go under the glove. This when above which is odd. Who knows.

Montero looked great after that 0-2 fastball down the middle for the game tying homer with no outs. I guess the pressure was off after that.

So my wire to wire prediction is still in play after game 1! Great win.

Studs:
Trammell (I hope I am pronouncing that right) was big with a huge walk in the 8th and 10th and a great throw earlier nailing a runner at 2B.
Fraley had 3 walks and a HBP and one of the walks ws game winner.
Moore is just clutch and I need to start giving him more props.

Duds:
Marco was off
Montero did what he did in spring which isn't a good thing.
Hitters in the first 7 innings. Need a better start than that.
