Lefty 99
Well, he wouldn't be full time, they'd rest him vs. lefty starters.I'm good with this, as long as he becomes the full time DH. There is no reason to continue playing him in the outfield.

I meant that when he plays, he does so at the DH spot.Well, he wouldn't be full time, they'd rest him vs. lefty starters.
So they want to bring back a platoon-only DH.Well, he wouldn't be full time, they'd rest him vs. lefty starters.
yes and no. I think it blew up this year for two main reasons:So they want to bring back a platoon-only DH.
Isnt that strategy one of the reasons this year’s team blew up?
Or he shows he can’t play the field and demonstrated a .150 OBP. Then he gets 90% of the DH ABs.yes and no. I think it blew up this year for two main reasons:
1. The FO thought they had more talent than they do. Understandable, given the 107 win season last year. That squad deserved a chance to run it back.
2. Massive underperformers/reversions to the mean. Outside of the SP, team wide.
The platooning is going to continue; it's just the way baseball is now. A lot of the managerial choices were between a shit sandwich and poop soup. Not much more Kap could have done IMO.
DH will be one of the positions that gets platooned unless/until someone steps up and shows he can handle both lefties and righties.
sure, there's that.Or he shows he can’t play the field and demonstrated a .150 OBP. Then he gets 90% of the DH ABs.
Cherry pick, much?Giants record thru May 26: 24-19
May 27: Manager Gabe Kapler publicly states he won't stand for the national anthem till he feels better about the direction of the country.
Giants record since Kapler's announcement: 37-49
Just sayin'.
Cool. I welcome freedom of speech, unlike many other places.Cherry pick, much?
They were 4-7 in their last 11 going into that game. That game was also the “Slap” game, so there was a LOT going on there.
I WANT to agree with you on this point, I just can’t. The historical facts just don’t line up.
That’s like saying “JFK lived for 46 years before Michael Jackson released Thriller. Has has been dead every day since. Therefore, Michael Jackson”s Thriller was the cause of JFKs death”. There is no evidence that the two events are related, even though the facts stated to make the case are true.Cool. I welcome freedom of speech, unlike many other places.
I didn't cherry pick at all. I went from the dates up until his announcement, and since the announcement. Cherry picking was a 0% factor. You should know better.
I respectfully disagree. Your presentation of the logical fallacy of false cause and false attribution is way over the top compared to my presentation of facts. In your example, one event obviously has absolutely nothing to do with the other. That is not the case with what I presented. To say that the de facto team leader's public statement about an obviously divisive issue could have no impact on the team and every member on it is ludicrous. That’s like saying “JFK lived for 46 years before Michael Jackson released Thriller. Has has been dead every day since. Therefore, Michael Jackson”s Thriller was the cause of JFKs death”. There is no evidence that the two events are related, even though the facts stated to make the case are true.
Your facts about WL record are true, but they completely ignore context and the fact that the Giants slide was already well underway when Kap made his statement.
Let me put it another way: If he was still on the Giants, how do you think Madison Bumgarner would react to Kapler's statement, both internally and externally? Would that motivate him and make him want to be a better player? That’s like saying “JFK lived for 46 years before Michael Jackson released Thriller. Has has been dead every day since. Therefore, Michael Jackson”s Thriller was the cause of JFKs death”. There is no evidence that the two events are related, even though the facts stated to make the case are true.
Your facts about WL record are true, but they completely ignore context and the fact that the Giants slide was already well underway when Kap made his statement.
So at least give some of the soup more time in the DH spot because it probably stinks less than the sandwich.sure, there's that.
Again, shit sandwich or poop soup.
This I will agree with, at least as a possibility. But to say his comment caused the nose dive ignores the fact that they were already losing altitude at an alarming rate when he made them.At best, Kapler's statement threw a lot of gasoline into a smoldering dumpster fire.
I don’t know. When I make soup, it tends to stink worse than the sausages I make for the sandwiches. So at least give some of the soup more time in the DH spot because it probably stinks less than the sandwich.
Well, there isn't much more stink in the Giants' offense than LaStella (except for Wynns), so maybe he is the soup.I don’t know. When I make soup, it tends to stink worse than the sausages I make for the sandwiches.
Did he mention why he regards this offseason of being full of good FAs? There are definitely some good ones but the are kind of bunched in the same positions and there is not much depth to the amount of good FAs.
