Shaq even had the courage to claim on national TV that "Giannis may be the greatest player that has ever played the game in a few years from now" during one of the postseason games against the Celtics last season.

Neither the comment on "Kobe", nor Giannis mentioning LA has anything to do with his upcoming contract renewal with the Bucks.

Giannis and Kobe were close friends which lead to Giannis spending the summer of 2018 training with Kobe at the camp Kobe has created in LA and been hosted at his house with his family accompanied by Maria (now the mother of Giannis' son).

Giannis clearly mentions LA (not the Lakers) because one of his brothers has a contract with a team there and also mentions Mil because his other brother is with him in the Bucks roster, all in a phrase which expresses his willingness to play and share his career with his brothers "anywhere"...

Neither the Lakers ever signed Kostas, so that they can attract Giannis' interest as many naive conclude in their ignorance.

The Lakers of course know Giannis' willingness to have his brothers in the same team he plays with and they've signed Kostas because they also know that the Bucks would do their best to please Giannis if they can add Kostas in their roster.

OTOH, the Bucks have Bledsoe in their roster, who other than being a close friend to Lebron with who he has often trained with, Lebron has in multiple cases expressed his willingness to add Bledsoe in the roster he plays with (already from when he was with the Cavs) and even has him under contract with "Klatch sports" of which Lebron is a major shareholder.

Therefore the real reason the Lakers have signed Kostas, is so that they can get hold of an asset that the Bucks want and use Kostas in order to get involved in possible negotiations with the Bucks if they decide to part with Bledsoe (which is probable to happen during the following summer or a season later - depending on how this season ends for the Bucks).

The Lakers would cut Kostas before they trade him. As of right now, he has potential but he is 22. He isn't worth a dime. And no, he wouldn't be used as an asset to get Bledsoe bc he does nothing to improve the trade, Bledsoe is $17.5M a year. That isn't happening.
