I'm so old I remember when Buffalo had a NBA team (Buffalo Braves) - Bob McAdoo was quite the player for that team.

My favorite was the Kansas City-Omaha Kings. Even better name than the Angels MLB franchise!

That article rings home for me...I'm not ashamed to admit that I was a big NBA fan in the 70's and early 80's. I liked watching the Celts with Havlicek, Cowens, and JoJo White. A guy by the name of Julius Erving was doing incredible things in Philly. Wes Unseld was a beast with the Washington Bullets and there was a tall guy out in LA named Lew Alcindor who suddenly became known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (especially good in the movie "Airplane" if you haven't seen it). Then Bird and Magic joined the association in '79 (after squaring off in the NCAA title game) and it was a great time to be a basketball fan.

Amen, Dash....but the last time I watched pro basketball they were using red, white and blue balls....
