Not sure what it is with Boston media, but this is the second article I've seen since Halloween about trading for Stanton...

Red Sox should pursue Giancarlo Stanton (and this time, it could even happen) - Touching All the Bases - Boston.com

He is one of those players that you could (and should) unload your farm to get. (A near guarantee, and that doesn't come around that often)....

If the Marlins make him available, I'm sure at least 15 teams would be in the running. So, would/should your team make a push? What could they offer?

Will he be traded?

I know at some point early last year the Mets and Marlins were discussing a potential trade, whether or not those talks pick up again I'm not sure. They may not want to trade within the division.

That article is funny. So they are suggesting that "everyone be on the list except for your young star who will be an all star for a decade" in order to get a guy who is young and will be an all-star for a decade. Sure. Miami will move to the next offer.

If Miami makes him available the starting price will be the top 2 youngest and cheapest players in your organization and go from there.

Agree to a point.... The article also mentions that Boston was ranked #1 by BA for major-league-ready prospects. By skipping their #1, Miami could still get a motherload of good talent.

We tried the same approach (Texas) with AZ last offseason. When teams have a chip others really want, they ask for quality over quantity.

So this guy wants Stanton but he doesn't want the Sox to give up the guy they need to start off with, good luck with that.

Doubront I would gladly part with. On his baddays he's BRUTAL.

What the author has against Middlebrooks I don't know.

Is Cecchini really that good? I know zilch about him.

Cecchini is their next best 3B... Middlebrooks was a slight disappointment this year.

I wonder if he could be bought with straight up cash? I see the Marlins owner just sold a painting that netted him almost enough to fund his payroll for next year, so maybe he just needs cash now? If so,...........

The starting price with the Mets rumors last year were Wheeler (our top pitching prospect) and D'Arnaud (our top fielding prospect) and then likely some other parts so he will not be cheap.

The Yankees tried that, no go.
