I do think Bostic can contribute on short yardage and be that thumper. Don't want to see him drop back in coverage though.

Okay I'm gonna look at.

The only thing i could say is that they are pleased with the development of J. Davis. They also think Holcomb is a stud. Sure the backups are weak no doubt. As far as CB they brought in two young inexperienced players. IF we get injuries we are in trouble. but you can say that of any NFL team.

Couple of things about the article I am posting below:

No, I didn't write it.

Yes, I am NOT the only one who is confused and frustrated by the absurd decision-making.

Everything the author says is exactly what I said.

I was really hoping they would go after James Bradberry and bring back Landon. Now it's on him(Rivera). Same with Jay Gruden. He kept hiring those terrible DCs because he was deathly afraid of hiring his replacement. Sadly, him not bringing in a credible DC is what got him fired imo.

Cousins, Garçon, Jackson, Reed, Thompson, Crowder, Trent......and he refused to hire a real DC

With Rivera it seems like he as an attitude of he knows best and he knows something no one else does when it comes to the roster. Okay, well it's your ass if you're wrong.

Just have to wait and see. I refuse to kill Rivera, Wentz, or the defense before the year even starts. I want to be able to root for this team. I want to be able to root for Wentz.

I dont want to be the guy who's takes on this board don't age well because the Skins are kicking ass this year.

We will have plenty of time to bury the coaches and team as the year progresses. I've stated in other threads that I think we are gonna get scored on. I also think we have a chance to be a top 12 to 15 offense which should give us a chance based on our schedule.

The defense just can't be bottom 5 again or JDR gets fired and Rivera will have to face questions about his ability to construct a functional roster.

Jacksonville will be a good test to see where we are at. They spent a lot of money on their roster and moved an incompetent coach who the players loathed out of the building.

Solid post.

I thought Gruden might be "our" coach after having 2 winning seasons in 3 years. For the life of me, his DC selections were unexplainable. As Breed has pointed out, nepotism finds its way into organizations more than it should. Rivera got us to the playoffs in 220, but in my book, it was mostly luck. Dallas and NYG pretty much threw in the towel and Philly threw the game in week 16. The Giants GM even called them out for tanking. Basically, the rest of the NFC East gave up and let us win. In other words, we got into the playoffs due to teams tanking and giving up.

I have always thought Wentz was over-rated and said that when he was in Philly and Indy. I would be a hypocrite to start inflating his numbers and jump on the Wentz bandwagon now when I personally mocked his play over the past 5 years.

I would like Rivera to explain why our defense will improve in 2022 over 2021. Again, his pride and arrogance will get him fired. I believe he is an average coach who is loved by his players; however, he should not be allowed anywhere near a front office. We know that for sure after his 3rd offseason. Some posters have claimed that he has done well "with what he had". That simply isn't true and they know it. As much as I dislike Bruce, he left us with significant cap room....top 10 in the league according to ESPN at the start of free agency. At one point it was top 8 I believe. Rivera squandered that and blew through it. The results: back-to-back losing seasons with little cap space left. Can anyone on this board, especially the "faith and hope" crowd say that this has been money well spent?

I knew something was wrong when Rivera brought in the same incompetent people who got run out of Carolina. I don't want Carolina 2.0. We have their x-GM, x-cap manager, x-coaching staff, etc.

All fair points, but at the end of the day it's a quarterback league and Ron hasn't had one. You could argue he still doesn't. That said when he did have an upper tier QB he went to the Superbowl and if Cam sacks up and jumps on the football Ron probably has a ring and isn't even here.

The fact that he waiting until year 3 to get his "QB" is concerning right? The fact that the QB is Carson Wentz is frightening. Nobody in the league wanted him.

I have no clue why he didn't draft the "franchise QB"in the past few years.

The roster has been upgraded
Gotta give a defense coach like Rivera credit for understanding that this is an offensive league and investing resources into upgrading it. If he and JDR can coach up the D, might have a chance with a favorable schedule. I still contend that Jax and Det are live dogs, but in reality you need to win those games when you are in year 3 of a rebuild.

We get the Giants twice, the Jags, Lions, Bears, Texans, Falcons.....if not this year, with this schedule, when?

They tried like hell to get Stafford. Stafford didn't want to come here. We offered more than the Rams did, but Detroit did him a solid. Ron tried like hell to get Russ. Russ didn't want to come here.

If Pickett and Willis blow up, sure we'll look bad, but I like Dotson. I think by trading down we turned those picks into Robinson, Howell and someone else if I'm not mistaken.

Should have taken Herbert, but I don't recall anyone on this board or anywhere in the moment calling for the Skins to do that over Chase. If anything there was more Tua talk. Hindsight is 20/20.

I think the article is not accurate at all and is a fan piece for sure.

How can you say the OLine is "the same". That is NOT true. We have taken a step back.

I agree that WR, QB, and RB are upgrades. TE remains to be seen at this time. I do like Cole Turner though.

DLine is a massive downgrade. LB is even at this time. We have the same cast of characters who led up the worst LB corps. in the NFL last year. Holcomb is now switching over to another position after having his best year in the NFL. It is a wash at this point.

I agree on CB, but disagree with Safety. We are swapping out Butler for Collins at BN. It is the same or possibly a downgrade.

The author needs to do a lot more work on his/her end. It made no sense.

Well, according to some on the board, players should "want" to come here in order to win. I have argued that for months now. We have a toxic organization. It is NOT all about winning.

Yes, I see the effort being made, hence, it should be resolved via the draft. Rivera doesn't think so. I like effort, but I like results better.

I was against drafting Young from the get-go and said that several times during the 2020 offseason.

As a whole I think the offense has clearly been upgraded, but the guards concern me.

I am a build the trenches first guy. The OLine and DLine are our weak spots.
