I think there will be a few "Flyer" type rebuilds this upcoming summer. There are teams moving out of their prime for a cup, some new teams entering it and some GM's/owners ned to be competitive every year. So I think the draft and FA will be a blast to watch this year and we'll have lots of head scratching moments from it.

I'm not sure there are enough GMs out there with the balls to make the trades Holmgren did.

Or the sense to make them as well as he did.

All this turmoil is not good for me. Big names getting bandied about due to knee-jerk reactions is going to be way too tempting to Howson.

Pat Kane is a bad idea, but exactly in the wheelhouse of the mental midget. Big name, big skill, personality. But he just doesn't seem to care as mentioned already. Besides all of our cab drivers are Somali and very angry. Bad mix.

Kane has enough "issues" as it is...putting him near a big state school and a bunch of drunken women may not help matters. I can see Kane being moved though...I agree with most people that he doesn't seem to care. That said, I never really thought he cared that much, even during their Cup year.

Also, not all the deals will work out they way they did for Philly...Philly got pretty lucky on top of being smart about it.

I think the one factor that really seems to miss here is the guys Philly got(other then Cooter who was drafted) were all guys who needed a change of scenery and knew they needed to prove they were worth the investments. Read is just a great signing, most teams don't normally risk a contract spot on a 25 year old playing for a mediocre college in the first place. It all comes down to personalities and work ethic. They all bought into Lavy's system too(well except the part where we prevent goals  ).

On a side note I don't think we would have gotten half of the rookie production we got out our rookies if Pronger was here all year. The leadership in the room is more lead by commitee and talk out issues, where as Pronger has always been(to my understanding) more yell first think later.
