No. The only way a game is continued at a later date is if the game has gone at least 5 innings and the score is tied when the game is called.

This game, because it has not gone the required 5 innings, would be erased as if all the at-bats never happened.

So while we're waiting for the rain to stop, I have a comment to make. I was listening to the pre-game show on the radio this morning and the topic du jour seemed to be Brian Wilson. The comments came fast and furious; one uy said he would take Javier Lopez as a closer before he would take Wilson. Another dude said that Wilson is too worried about being a celebrity to be a good closer and yet another caller said that Wilson was actually afraid.

I will never claim to be the smartest giants fan in the World but sometimes when I listen to KNBR and hear callers who claim to be Giants fans, I want to reach through the radio and pull their Giants fan cards from their wallets.

Brian Wilson might not be Mariano Rivera, but dude has 24 saves and a 3 ERA. He's getting the job done.

And that rant is all the more reason I am glad this community sprouted up. Intelligent discussion is not only enjoyed, it is apprecited.

Scherzer is not coming back out. Villareal (the rookie with the mullet) is going to inherit the 3-1 count on Crawford. Zito is warming up and looks like he wants at least to go the minimum to get his second win. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually went more. Dude's only thrown 26 pitches.

My only complaint about Wilson is that he's too in love with the strikeout. I think that if he threw more strikes and let the hitter try to his his nasty cutter, he could get more outs with fewer pitches. But that's a real small gripe for a man who is as good as any closer in the game right now.
