Under normal circumstances, I agree. But even if they have no faith in that #2 hitter punching a grounder to the right side of the diamond? Granted, he might've had less faith in a decent bunt after OC missed one, but with Timmy on the hill and Pablo (who has been great with sac flies, recently) in the on-deck circle, I think it was worth the risk. I also believe that there are current employed MLB managers that would (and should) agree. You don't, which is fine. Unfortunately, I don't think there will be a survey taken anytime soon, and if there were I doubt the surveyor would explain that exact scenario. Alas, we are at an impasse. Wow. What an awful accidental rhyme.

Bochy manages pretty closely to what the book says you should do. And interestingly the book correlates well with what stats say actually happens. Not surprising, since the book is based on a 100 years of direct observation.
