Getting the love he did from the players and coaching staff from the Texans spoke volumes IMO.

Didn't get to see it, but I'm not surprised. I think that he is well respected throughout the league and well liked by players who have played for him.

I would say how many of his ex-players even from his days with Denver that came to camp this whole off season speaks wonders of what he means to players. Like I said earlier this off season the one big negative on Kubiak is almost that he gets too attached to his players and will keep them in or longer than he should because of his commitment to players. Thankfully we have Elway who is about as cold and calculated as it comes to making personnel decisions.

Probably in a way a good combo to have. Kubes can coach and blame the moves on Elway. :)

I always thought that Kubiak was the brains behind Shanahan back in the SB years.

There have been quite a few ex-players that have said that Kubiak really was the guy that players wanted to listen to more so than even Shanahan. They had Trevor Pryce on the other day and even the defensive players have been saying they liked Kubiak much more than Shanahan. At one point I guess Shanny was thinking about taking the HC job at the University of Florida and Pryce said he went to church for the first time in years and prayed that Shanny would take the job so that Kubiak would become the coach.

Just a cool little factoid about Kubiak. If you include games played as a player/Assistant Coach/Head Coach Kubiak is only 2nd to that of Bill Belichick in wins among active coaches in the league.

The minute Fox was canned it just seemed to sensible that Kubiak was the guy. I wonder if Elway would have canned Fox if Kubiak was not available or waited one more year.

There was some talk today that this is what Elway has had in mind all along. Osweiler when we drafted him was not a great fit behind what Manning likes to do but he does have the perfect build of what Kubiak likes to do with an offense. So far we have seen that with Osweiler in he does seem much more comfortable in this offense and has been able to make some plays. Could Elway have been thinking almost 4 years in advance of what he hoped would happen? Probably a bit far fetched but it also wouldn't surprise me.

Trevor Pryce is honestly a guy I would love to hang out with. He is a very interesting man to say the least. He actually wrote a children's book series that was bought by Netflix and they are now turning it into a tv series to release in the next year I think.

Interesting. I really don't know much about him personally, but he was an absolute stud DT for several years before he hurt his back and moved him to DE. Played really well for the Ravens the last few years of his career too.

Pryce is probably the guy that likes Shanny the least of any of his ex-players. He said that he and Shanny butted heads all the time and he just couldn't stand the guy. It is why he got moved to the Ravens actually even though he was still a great player. Hate to see that of talented players getting shipped out just because they can't get along with the coaches.

If I recall Shanny had a problem with Pryce's work ethic early in his career.

Shanny wasn't the only one. Big Al was talking about Pryce and said the veterans actually had to go have a talk with Shanny about Pryce's attitude his rookie year. Pryce just didn't really click with the rest of the group and just really rubbed people the wrong way early on.

I could be wrong, but I always thought that Pryce was best suited as a DT in the 4-3, where he could make use of his rare interior pass rushig skills and still stuff the tun. His production fell off when he was moved to the 4-3 DE position after he hurt his back. Maybe that is because his back wasn't fully healed, but I always thought he just didn't have the speed to be a great edge rusher. When he went to Baltimore he played very well in the 3-4, mostly as a DE, but also sometimes playing NT.

Yeah I agree he was much more disruptive from the inside. He kind of reminds me of Bennett for the Seahawks. He can play DE but honestly Bennett and Pryce both did some of their best damage using their speed against the interior guys.

Crash, what I heard wasn't directed at the Broncos training camp specifically, but all teams' camps across the NFL. 20 years ago you had two a days that were full pads and, frankly, players came into camp needing to get into shape. Now NFL football is a year around activity with very little offseason. So camps now are more about the mental aspects of the game (watching film, installing plays, etc.) than simply the physical part as it was in the "old" days.
