Incorrect.

New as in Dan Quinn coaching the defence instead of Mike The Putz Nolan.

OK Fair enough. I stand corrected.

So new as in the new defensive guy that gave up 25 points in the waning moments of the Super Bowl to choke away a Lombardi Trophy. That guy?

Has to be better than Nolan and yes I do recall that game.

Sue me for being optimistic.

I guess technically he collapsed twice on D in the Super Bowl.

Once with Seattle and once with Atlanta.

Both to New England.
but it was the Seattle offense that failed the team in that game. Specifically within the last 45 seconds when they let the clock run down in confusion then executed what many consider the worst called play in SB history.

Seattle was up by 10 heading into the 4th quarter. No matter how they fucked up at the very end offensively.

Nobody had ever lost a Super Bowl after leading by 10 starting the 4th.

Hot Lanta collapse was just epic.

I totally forgot he was the D coordinator for that SB. Damn, that's gotta sting. Two epic meltdowns in two Super Bowls against the hoodie. I still think it was Bill letting the clock run against Seattle that ultimately made Pete make that call. Weird that Bill's clock decision in that game is not talked about more.

I do think Dan is a good coach and I can see your reason for optimism. I's just busting your balls.

But is 2 TDs in the fourth quarter in the past 10 years that much? Is that a lot for Brady, Manning, Breeze, Rodgers, or even Rivers? I'd even throw FitzTragic in there when he plays like FitzMagic.

I was talking the fuck out of it as it happened because it seemed wrong...

Until it wasn't.

If you are the Legion of Boom and defending champs it is that much. They got sliced and diced.
The year after holding the great Peyton Manning to absolutely fuck all.

But if the defense had done a better job it would not have come down to one play right?
And, as it turns out, the New England D was able to win the game when their own offense was not able to put up enough points that it would come down to 1 play.

Like not going for OT in 2001.

I did say to myself "What are you doing", but the camera was on Bill and it was clear he was totally engaged and knew exactly what he was doing as though it were a play call. And it actually put me a bit at ease. It was so weird the next play turned out as it did.

1 more thing: Yes it was BB who called the time out and it was BB who specifically had undrafted Malcolm Butler ready for that exact play and BB who then trusted Butler to make the play. and of course, it was Butler who made the play.

Did the time not keep running after the miracle catch by Kearse? that's when I was thinking uh oh.

Because the next play was the Lynch run that stopped short.

Then Butler's play.

After The Lynch run/Hightower tackle the clock kept running, and running until the interception. If you remember, the clock stopped after Kearse' catch because there were endless replays of it.
